It was hard to turn down since I was looking for a shovel head. Looking forward to trying out the Schicks as well. I just need to stay off of E-bay. I also picked this up yesterday as well. Hope the little H1 (Hussy) cleans up nice. I was the only bidder and got her pretty cheap and it came with a box.
Other than being a bit harder to find and a bit more expensive, are the L Razors Good Quality Shavers?
It's about your technique. They are all capable of comfy bbs. Buy the one you think looks cool. "Too aggressive" is a myth, people use straight razors every day.
I have a few Es, a G and an I1. All would be just fine to start with. Chicks and Personnas are both available online. I have had good luck with various vintage stainless blades and universally lousy luck with all vintage carbons. An alternative to eBay is always to hunt ‘in the wild’ at area antique/2nd hand stores. Injectors were commen enough that they show up quite often at vintage places. I also have a PAL injector but would not recommend starting with one.
Just remembered the only other inj. I have is a Star Trek Personna sitting in a box. It's pretty to look at but is not very efficient. I seem to recall myself having to press harder than with the E2 so that I would end up with more irritation and scrapes than I ever get from the more aggressive Schick.
I posted this on the "Injector & Se Party III" thread on 12/29/18. Thought this might give you an idea of how some of this cheap E-bay finds may clean up. ********************* Picked up a Schick type L. Just got through cleaning it up yesterday. It was the Championship razor but the striping was all messed up. I scrapped the striping off and sanded the area where the striping was lightly. I then soaked the handle in Clorox to remove some staining and polished the head up. The little Schick cleaned up great for a cheap little razor.
Johnny....not yet. I have not even ordered blades yet. I just got through with the 30 day challenge in December and I have been trying out some DEs and shavettes that I have been neglecting. It is on my list for the near future. I invite you to check out the 30 day crew. We have a lot of fun and we get off track some times but we always come back to shaving. Link Below. A 30 day challenge with your new Schick would be awesome. https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/january-2019-30-day-rule-focus-pix-discussion.60983/
Check it out and take part when you want to. It does move fast and if you miss a day or two it is hard to catch up.
