Hey peeps, my local Wallyworld is stocking Wilkinson DE blades now. I picked up a ten pack for $1.76. Don't know how they are but just wanted to get the word out.
Hope they work for ya. Decent price. I don't remember being too impressed with 'em, but that was a while ago. I popped one into my '58 Gillette TV SS this morning, as a matter of fact. Wasn't a bad shave, but I've had better. And you know me, I'll swap it from razor to razor for the rest of the week. Follow along with SoS and you'll see how it goes.
I used to love Wilkinson blades. I'll have to pop over to WW and try some. Let us know how you make out Bob. Alan in AZ
They have them in our area as well. Not that impressive, but I didn't toss one in an impressive razor either. Will try another blade next week in something with a little more bite.
Well, they are the only blades you can get in our Supermarkets apart from the ones with no name and i stay well away from those nasties. i used them when i first started DE shaving and they were not too bad.
Are they the Indian Wilkinsons or the Wilkinson Classics (German)? For me, the Classics work great, but the Indian ones are just so-so.
They're the German ones. I tried a pack and think they're not bad at all IMO better than the Personna's they had been carrying), certainly worth $1.79 for a 10 pack. :ashamed001 If I was travelling somewhere and wanted to do carry-on only and if I knew there was a Walmart where I was going, I'd pack an empty DE and buy blades at my destination.
I can't find any mention of a platinum coating either, which for me is good news. The coating certainly helps it to lost longer, but for me, coated blades just don't shave as well. Better than the personna for me as well. I liked these blades, although there's certainly better things out there. The blades themselves have no printing on them at all.... I can't think of any other blade that's blank like this.
KAI blades are blank.. .However, the WS blades I picked up are not completely blank. One side is blank, the Other has a "1" and a "d" on it. After not shaving over the holiday weekend, one of these mowed through the beard with no trouble.
I got a couple of packs of these and tried one in my '69 Gillette adjustable. I like them. BBS with little effort. Not my #1 favorite blade, but definitely a very good shave for me.
My Wallyworld also has replaced the Personna blades with WS blades, which I find to be OK for the money, though nothing to write home about.
Better than the old Personnae Agreed. First shave in my 64 SS was rough, then the next two were very smooth, DFS. Next blade into my 46 Tech, so far I've had two smooth DFS shaves. I like them.:happy005
I picked up a pack last week to try. My first shave with them was pretty nice. The quality of the second shave deteriorated more than I would have liked. The third shave was much like the second. I didn't even consider trying to go any farther then 3 shaves. Overall I get a decent smooth shave with them. I think they are better blades then the Personnas they replaced.
There has been so much movement on these that I picked up a pack to try. I will pair the Wally Wilk's with The Dridecker tomorrow and get in on all this action.
Unfortunately I made a favorable comment on these blades a couple of days ago when I was 2 shaves in and it was great. On the 3rd. shave it still went well, but the 4th. it was like the blade stopped working. The result was exactly like a bump fighter cartridge, I can accept that because I know that's what it does but not from a DE, I'll keep them for emergency backups but not r egular rotation.
