I have a little growth on my left (outer) ear, that is unfortunately cancerous. The good (or at least, less bad) news is that it is slow-growing and not aggressive. So it is treatable & I will be fine. The treatment itself is rather involved. Today, I go to the skin specialist, who will remove it. This procedure, called Moh's surgery is done in stages. They remove some tissue & examine it microscopically, while I wait. If they have gotten it all, I'm done. But if not, they repeat as many times as needed until they do. This is a highly successful procedure, but I have no way of knowing how much tissue will be removed. That brings us to tomorrow. I go to the hospital for the ear specialist to reconstruct my ear. As I have explained , there is no way to know exactly what that will entail right now. At least I get to sleep through that one.
Good luck. Had that a couple of times and after several years all is well. So you will have good success
Thanks folks. I am back from the skin specialist. It took 2 tries & now it’s done. I am home now; a little sore, but OK.
I'm late to the party so I guess now it's just best wishes and prayers for speedy recovery and no recurrence!
Right, I was confused;;;yesterday yuo said you were "all done". but I wassn't so sure. Your throat must be like the "throat virus" I had many years ago-throat was killing me, but no cold sysmptoms.
Thanks again for all the kind words. My throat is still sore. My ear is tender, as is expected. It looks pretty awful, due to all the stitches, but that is just for now. The most important things are A)the cancer is gone and B) my ear is properly shaped like an ear.
I will be praying for you. Medical issues can be so concerning. I pray that the docs have wisdom in your follow up treatment.
Sorry , I just now saw this thread and I'm glad all seems to be going well for you and best wishes and prayers for your FULL And speedy recovery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Again, thanks. My throat is OK now. I will see the doctor on Friday- hopefully to get the stitches out. While I will be relieved to get that done, it's likely to be painful. My ear is still very tender to the touch.
