If I am destined to die to a zombie, I will do it in good spirit and with a fine shave. I was wondering: For those of us who aren't quite as hardcore, what's the best way to preserve blades? Will a 'zip-lock' bag and silicon packet work?
I just keep all my blades in a couple of cigar boxes with the desiccant packs. The boxes are kept in my home office, free from any excess humidity.
Kept in original packaging, of course, and stored in 2x freezer quality zip-loc bags. Some the more... uh.... prepared... members of another board used surplus ammo cans with des. packs.
not on youtube, matter of public record. Involved 2 illegals, 1 underage girl, a pitbull, 4 bags with unknown content, 3 columbians and the weedwacker, not pretty
yea, cops new orleans, my attire for the evening was a saints shirt (torn from my run in with the pitbull) and a pair of adidas shorts and flip flopso
With the correct humidity indoors, does it even matter with the silica, airtight bags, etc? We have year-round below 40% relative humidity inside, so I haven't given it much thought to be honest...
Probably not, but we're talking about shaving here! (so in other words, a bunch of loonies and fanatics )
Don't get me wrong, I think it's an important issue. I have 25+ years worth of blades with 1 shave a day, so it would be a shame that all those blades went bad because of storage. I also know that especially you Florida guys have lunatic humidity all the time, so that makes sense with proper storage for you. But the most Florida I'll properly get is a post-card I don't know if I should take extra precautions due to our low humidity indoors (it's a low-energy house with active ventilation 24/7, so it never exceeds 40%).
My personal opinion is that since (most) blades these days are stainless steel, the more important thing for them to last is that they don't get moved around too much and thereby dulled. Humidity, should be a very minor concern as they are not likely to rust or otherwise corrode. But, then again, you can't be too careful with your stockpile.
