Ok, a couple of months ago, my good friend alpha444 PIF'd me some Polish goodies. He sent me some Wars, Lider, BonD, some coins, and last but not least, a Wizamet Junior DE razor. This razor is an Eastern Bloc product made in Poland. It was either made in the 60's or 70's. It's very similar to a Tech but slightly more aggressive. The commies made a lot of razors similar to our Gillettes and some were almost exact clones. They are pretty rough and not as pretty as Gillettes, but this was a fine shaver nonetheless. Here's the breakdown of my first thoughts.

Price: 10/10. It was a gift, but I hear they are pretty affordable in Poland.

Quality: 7/10. It looks kind of rough when you first look at it. There are some tooling marks on the head, some gashes in the baseplate and the stamping is kind of half on.

User Friendly: 10/10. It has to be impossible to cut yourself with this. The blade gap is very minimal and will be a great razor for veterans and newbs alike.

Grip: 10/10. The handle is the best part of this razor visually. It is well knurled and can be loaded onto any three piece razor.

Ease of blade placement: 10/10. As long as you don't get careless while putting a blade in or removing one, you'll be ok.

Aggressiveness: 6/10. These razors are pretty inconsistent with aggressiveness. Some are known to be extremely aggressive, others are not. Mine seems to be midway.

Adjustability: 0/10. You can't adjust this. I guess you could put a shim in it, but why not buy an aggressive razor to start with?

Balance: 10/10. This razor is made out of aluminum. Therefore, this thing is VERY light. If you have held an aluminum Tech, then this razor is even way lighter. It's insane.

I recommend that if you find one of these, you give it a spin. It's a razor that doesn't get much hype, but will do the job just as good as a Merkur Slant, a Slim, or any other well known razor.

    alpla444 That's sweet!

    Glad you like it Ryan.
As I said it aint pretty but it shaves great.
And you seem to feel its slightly more aggressive than a tech, which is how I felt about it.
If you're travelling light this has to be a good option.

It was a really good shaver. Thank you for sending it to me Dean. Given the fact it's lighter than a Tech, it will be an awesome travel razor.
