Anyone have an opinion or used a wooden handled brush from bestshave.net ? They have it listed for only $2.45 and for that price even if the brush was poor, you could get a new knot from TGN and re-do it. What is their quality like?
Go to the brush forum and look up the thread horse hair #6 brush, I believe that is the title. Lots of info on the cheap horsie, and it seems to be a crap shoot whether you get a good one.
I can tell you from experience by removing the knots from several of these brushes here and here; the handle is not what it seems. This brush is made of the same stuff inexpensive #2 pencils are made from, that sawdust and polymer stuff. Then a wood veneer is wrapped around the whole thing. I like the knots quite a bit though. I had to buy a dozen and cherry pick them, but the handles no way would I slap a TGN knot in it.
