Wooden Handle Restore

    Stripped the four red and green handles down to bare wood.

    I know there are only three in the pic. The other was steaming. The knot was being difficult.

    Here's one with first coat of stain pre sanding.

    I did one the same color and one a bit darker. Not sure how I'll do the fourth one yet. Depends on how these turn out. I'm not all that jazzed about the way the wood is taking the stain. I sanded them BBS but they are still coming out kinda blotchy. After 3 coats they look better though.

    Looking good.
    I had to do the same with my Semogue 2000 handle; the finish was starting to flake off around the collar. Sand, stain, then 6-7 coats of poly.
    Can't wait to see your finished brushes!

    I love that warm color. It highlights the shape of the wood. Have you thought about doing the 4th as a revamp of what it was, with colored enamel over the stain? I'm crazy enough to try that... LOL
