I am brainstorming different shaving brush ideas and was curious what people might think about a new kind of shaving brush--one with silicone bristles. The material and feel would be similar to the newer silicone basting brushes used for glazing meat. The aesthetic would be more modern--say a white base with white bristles, or black, or red, or blue, etc. Thoughts? Would you pay money for such a brush? $50? $30?
I didn't vote. Can a silicone basting brush whip up lather? That's the first question that needs to be asked here.
Just curious, did you get enough info to decide to move forward with making silicone brushed ? If that is what you had in mind.
Seeing that he hasn't been on since he posted this thread I would say the lack of enthusiasm killed his idea. I'm wondering if he got stuck with a bunch of basting brushes and was looking for an outlet to unload them.
This was the first question I had too. Thinking about it, I don't believe so. At least not like a bristled brush. OP, interesting idea. I don't see this working all. A silicone brush is going to hold product the way a basting brush holds sauce. It will spread, again like you do with sauce, but it won't lather. Even a silicone basting brush is terrible to use for basting. It's main advantage is that it's easier to clean than a regular basting brush. It actually bastes much worse. So, I don't see why it would work as a better shaving brush. I would pay $0.00 for it, and am assuming it would come with free shipping.
I think a silicone brush would not lather well indeed. And I suspect that the face feel would be terrible.
