Would you buy this interesting old Star (travel?) razor for $30? Looks very cool

 

I would if it had the wedge blades.

Would definitely buy that. I'm into tattoos and vintage stuff. That razor just looks badass.

That is one bad razor I would drop 30 on it if I had it to spare.

 

Mine works great with a regular SE blade in it - but not 100% sure if that one is built in the same way. Mine was also initially intended for wedge blades.

But to answer your actual question - YES, if the spring is there in the back and the two notches are there to hold the blade then $30 seems like a great deal to me.

But...you could just use a SE blade

 

The early lather catchers are not easy to find & with the tin and blades it looks like a pretty good deal.

 

And..actually you woudn't...because the second half of the handle on your Star razor is the stropping handle where you fit a wedge blade and then just strop it over some leather

 

im gonna try to get my wife to allow me the fundage for this. Even if it just sits on my shelf on display i gotta have it, its so cool.
