I just saw this for sale, on Etsy. I nearly fell off my chair. If this is one of you guys, I hope you get the asking price. It is a thing of beauty. It's a long way out of my budget. Is this the most expensive razor you've seen for sale?
"the head is a British Aristocrat #15, and the handle is an American Aristocrat from the 40s" From a post at B&B. I thought it looked Gillette-ish. How come no one is reproducing these?
I would love to have a vintage TTO open comb Gillette, even if it is cobbled together from parts separated by a big pond.
the reason is no one makes them is that.... to make a genuine open comb tto involved 48-50 steps that were all punched and folding of brass sheet. then you have the actual handle to make...
That Anglo American Aristocrat is my dream razor. It is truly a thing of beauty. If I could have afforded it, I would have bought it the first time it came up for sale a few months ago.
I have a couple of #15's,British and French.. They sure are pretty to look at, but they are not the best to shave with. I enjoy these Fatboy razors shaves more.
