So back in 1880 would this marvel still have been considered a " knife" even thought it has a pistol ? From what i found online the name multi tool was first used in 1975 and wasn't widely accepted until 1983 when the Leatherman Co. was established. So I wonder if they marketed this as a knife with all the bells and whistles or a pistol with darn near everything you could want. Including a straight razor tucked inside and stored safely. The accuall reason this was made was by the German knife makers for the American market. To show off the amazing talent and craftsmanship they could produce in order to sway them into buying there wares. During the 1880's apparently Americans were buying mostly from Sheffield England. Just thought someone else may enjoy this as well as myself. P.S. I do believe they left out the shaving brush.
Or they figure if you own one of these your tough enough that you would grab a badger with your bare hands and lather with it when it was still alive and fighting.
Neat gadget! I think that when they shipped it to the States, they had to pack it in the centre of the ship, otherwise the ship would capsize. You'd need huge pockets. Or baggy trousers.
