What is your setup for Christmas 2014? Or, is this a skipped shaving day for you?

I'm not mixing my routine up too much, but will take a little longer to shave as I have no rush (I'll shave after the early morning excitement).

My setup for the morning of:

Nickel replated long comb Gillette New
    Astra
Custom brush from Shaverjoe with TGN 24mm Finest Fan set at 49mm
    RazoRock Mouget de France
and topped off with a simple Thayer's Rose which Hazel that has added Mandarin EO.

    What about you?

Last year at Christmas, I was only a month or two into my straight razor journey. I had one straight razor, the Böker picture below, and still doing clean-up with a DE razor.
I'll have to do something on this…and quickly as the Yuletide Clock is ticking!!

    Last year's SOTD….

Don't know yet but I'm sure it'll involve spiked eggnog and a Cobra razor.[IMG]

I'm not a great one for planning ahead when it comes to shaving, more of a 'first thought, best thought' sort of fellow; but I'm sure it'll be one of the straights and equally sure it'll be an early morning shave. We have a tradition of getting out on the ski slopes for a few early laps on Christmas morning as it's always nice and quiet for the first few hours, and the vibe among those who do show up is generally pretty positive. My lather is always from one of just a handful of soaps or creams, my brushes number only nine (and 2 or 3 of those are essentially retired from service), and my pre & post routine doesn't ever seem to change to be honest.

I am going to wait until the packages under the Christmas tree will be opened. Some goodies from several Santa's are waiting for me there and I'm eager to use them!

I'll be at the MILs home in Midland, TX. My travel arrangement is now a Lord 314 (a terrific "cheap" razor), smallish Omega boar, a small tube of Coates (scent TBD), and a sample sized bottle of Ogalalla Bay Rum.

'Top of The Morning' shave today. Knockout Shave Cream was a super performer as usual. The iKon Slant is the smoothest razor in my den. Finished a BBS shave with lots of cooling menthol. Ahhhh!

Excellent choice! The 314 is one of the biggest bang for your buck razor on the market!

It was your review and SOTD thread that turned me onto them. I've bought a few for occasional gifts as well. $5, wow.

Up early waiting for the family to unwrap the gifts. I am truely suffering from SAD (Soap Acquisition Disorder). My Christmas shave is waiting under the tree so I will post again. You are never too old to feel like a kid again.

Christmas Eve Save-of-the-day at my in-laws:

    Pre-shave: hot shower
    Razor: travel razor, brand unknown
Lather: Gillette sensitive skin shave gel
Post-shave: cold water and a splash of Brut

Since we traveled to my in-laws for Christmas and I'm still new to traditional wet shaving, I opted to just use up my supplies of travel razors and travel sized shave goo. I did two passes with very light pressure and ended up with a decent shave. I've learned so much about technique that even with poor quality equipment I was able to pull something great off.

    Merry Christmas to all.:santa
