I don't typically get too adventurous when it comes to drinks. I drink a few beers here and there, like getting a Guinness at the pub, have wine when socializing, and drink harder alcohol neat as a norm. During the holidays though, we have a little traditional drink that I look forward to every year. Ours is a modified Dom Pedro. We had some for dessert again with friends tonight, but I didn't think to take a picture. A regular Dom Pedro looks like this: This time of the year, we use: Amarula (about one part) Vanilla Ice Cream (about one part), and Egg Nog (about 2 parts) Then garnish with sea salt dark chocolate shavings. It's utterly decadent as a drink and works great as a dessert
The wife is drinking a dirty ginger man Equal parts baileys, kahlua, sky vodka and creme de menthe. I am having Sam Houston whiskey straight.
We're not big drinkers, but on most holiday-imbibing occasions, a Sapphire martini, dry, two olives is my preferred drink of choice. My wife prefers her gin mixed with tonic and plenty of lime.
On New Year's Eve I'll have a tot of Stroopjenever (treacle gin or molasses gin). It is a traditional New Year's drink here in Zeeland (in The Netherlands). Made it myself a few weeks back and it turned out great! If you want to you can make it yourself: => *click* <= Have great holidays, ya'll, but don't overdo the drinks! Cheers!
I'll have a glass of wine with dinner tomorrow at my in-laws. I'm not a big drinker, I could go without and be just fine.
Thanks to @macaronus I'll probably have the stroopjenever tonight before bed as I have a nice bottle of prosecco in the basement for New Years.
Snowballs!!!! Although I can't have them here. It's a mix of this thick yellow drink called Advocat. If I remember correctly. You mix it with lemonade and it's great. But I can't find Advocat in Denmark.. I don't drink anymore except for this drink. But I only get that if I spend Christmas back in England.
Advocat (advocaat -lawyer- in Dutch) is yummy! We use to drink it 'straight' with some whipped cream. It is a traditional Dutch alcoholic beverage made from eggs, sugar and brandy. Somewhat like eggnogg, I think. The name is derived from avocado's. On the Dutch Antilles islands a drink was made from avocado's and alcohol. The Dutch sailors liked it, but since in The Netherlands there are no avocado's, they were substituted by eggs.
When do you do christmas? In england 25th December In denmark evening of 24th December We are doing an English Xmas in denmark this year as my wife is working tonight. Dude go buy some Advocat
Love to. It is just so expensive. The flights. The hire car and baby seats. Last time it cost me £800.
