A GrabBox 4 the ChatterBox (GB4CB)

I finally put together the razors, soaps, etc that I wanted to pass on to someone else.

Here it all is:

- 9 razors,
- 1 brush,
- 9 soaps/lotions/aftershave splash

(As I re-read the stuff below I feel sorry for you all..it's LONG..but please do try to read through it all)

First of all some [boring but important] disclaimers, information and rules for entering:

1. This is Not a PIF
This is not a PIF and it's not posted as a give-away.
The reason for this is that all winners (apart from the last winner (see more below) will have to accept the cost of shipping the items on to the next winner.

2. Say, Darkbulb, why are you giving away all this sweet, sweet loot?
It's truly a combination of;
- truly enjoying the people and content on this site,
- having won some PIFs in the past, and
- having a lot of stuff I don't really want/need and if I get rid of it...I can buy something else...

I will leave it up to interpretation as to which reason is the most important one.

3. Not a PassAround Box
This is not a PassAround box that can be passed around endlessly - it's a box that will be sent to a number of winner that each takes items that they like - until the last winner gets the left-overs and the pleasure of discarding the box.

4. What will this cost me if I win?
Currently the shipping cost is approx $12-13 using the USPS medium sized flatbox.
As the content of the package goes down it will of course be possible to instead use a small USPS flatbox.
The shipping cost for that box is approx $5-6 - and for your convenience I will include one of those boxes in the original box to make it easy for the winner to switch over to the smaller and cheaper box.
Depending on what the first winner picks it might very well be possible to switch over to that box already then - we'll see.

5. CONUS only
Due to it carrying shipping cost between winners it can really only be CONUS to keep it fair for participants.

6. Who can enter?
I did struggle with this one as I think everyone on the forum adds value - new and old members alike - but what I kept coming back to is that I wanted to say 'thanks' to the people that provide content/posts to this site - the forum chatterboxes if you will.

You can enter for this GrabBox if you, by the time of this being posted, have:
either 100 posts - or 100 likes (no you can't combine them)

Q: I only got 50 posts but 120 likes. Can I enter?
A: Yes, see above.

Q: I got 60 posts and 80 likes. Can I enter?
A: Sorry, not this time, I had to draw the line somewhere.

Ok, we're done with the 'boring but important stuff' - let's move on to the fun
So how does this work/how do I sign up?
1) You guys sign up below indicating you want to participate
- You need to meet the requirements listed above in point 5 and 6,
- You need to understand and accept the cost outlined in point 4 above
- This is a Box for the Chatterboxes..and...uh..I'm one of them.
To enter just do this:
a) Say "I'm in and accept the rules and cost outline above" (or something along those lines, I just want to make double-sure you've read 'em), and
b) Since this is a GB4CBs and I am...uh...a chatterbox myself...find and copy/paste any 'quote' from any post I've made (not counting this one).

Ex of valid entry:
"Yeah, yeah I've read the rules and I get them all including the cost-thing
Quote: "...after rubbing some Maas on it for an hour it looked like this"

That's it, you're now entered.

What happens next?
I will leave this up for entries for a week so it'll end on Dec 15 at some point.

There will be five winners (assuming that there is at least five people interested in this) that will be chosen by some online randomization program.
After the winners are chosen:
A) I will box up everything and send it to lucky winner #1.

B) Winner #1 will pick out what he/she wants to keep (see rules for that below (more rules? are you serious? sorry, but yes...) and will send it on to Winner #2

C) Winner #2 will do the same, as will Winner 3 and 4

D) Once the package arrives to Dumbo-winner #5 he/she gets to keep whatever is left in the box - and, well, at least there's no cost for him/her as the box stops there.

How long do I have, as a winner until I need to send the box off to the next winner?
I dunno. Maybe you want to try a couple of razors before you decide.
Let's say you should have it in the mail as-soon-as-you can but not longer than 3-4 days.

How do I know who to send the box to next?
Winners will be posted here. It will be up to winner 1 through 4 to send the next winner a PM on-site here asking for the mailing address (I don't see any value for me being a middle-man for that).

Can I add some cra...stuff to the box myself that will go to the next winner as I also have stuff to get rid off?
Sure, why not but keep in mind this is not a passaround - once the box arrives at winner #5 all that is in the box belongs to him/her.

Once I get the box...how do I know what items I can keep?

So, as shown up on top, this is the entire content of the GrabBox:


This content is broken down into three categories: A, B and C.

Category A (The five 'good razors'):

Content:
A1) A black Neilite plastic razor from the '40s
It's missing one of the 'tabs' that connects the head plates but I've used the razor and it doesn't seem to affect it at all.

A2) 1912 GEM SE razor with striped handle
I think it's beautiful, really shiny

A3) An OpenComb Micromatic SE razor
Also very shiny and pretty.

A4) A small-handled GEM Shovelhead razor
Tiny but shiny

A5) A Globe Cutlery "Improved Eagle Razor" straight razor from Germany
Scales seems to be in perfect condition no cracks, etc on scale or blade.
I think it would hone up just fine (maybe @HolyRollah could chime in on this one)
It has a neat etching on the blade;




Comes in non-original blue box.

Disclaimer: None of the razors are in what you'd consider near-mint condition. They are for most part user-grade razors meant to be used.


Category B (The Four less 'good' (ok maybe ugly) razors:
There are four razors in Category B - it'll be easy for you to spot them when you receive the box.
It's the three with rust/gunk on the heads and the one Keen Kutter (that is very pretty..but pretty useless)

I decided to add these as 'extra freebies' (see below) as at least the art-deco inspired handles are really nice.

Anything added to the GrabBox during its travel will automatically considered a "Category B"-item.
The person receiving the box can take anything from zero to all of the items in Category B.


Category C ("Soap and stuff")



Contains;
C1) Every Man Jack Shave Cream for sensitive Skin. New.
C2) Every Man Jack Face Lotion. New
C3) The Shave Den Peppermint splash, small bottle, used 1-2 times
C4) SuperMax Ultimate Shaving Cream. New.
C5) Col. Conk. Amber Shaving soap. New.
C6) Arko Shaving soap stick. New.
C7) Stirling "Naked and Smooth" unscented shaving soap (large sample slice). New.
C8) Shaving brush of unknown origin.
C9) Every Man Jack "Face lotion and post shave". New.
C10) Scotish Fine Soap Refill (used 3-4 times, 95%+ left)
This soap comes 'loose' in the box, originally it would had looked like this:



How do I, as winner know what I can pick?
Easy:
Pick:
ONE item from category A,
ANY items from category B (You want them all? Take them. Don't want any, leave them in the box)
TWO items from category C

(You can always refer back to these photos/descriptions when you get the box to make sure you pick the right quantity from the right category).

Then box it up, PM the next winner for his/her address..and send it on.

I'm in with almost 1500 posts and like 3400 likes! I'm a chatterbox too and love to get involved and love this idea. It's all complicated and great. I love it.

I will be honest with you Eric, you hit the ground running since you've joined. And if the shave den had annual awards...you would get my vote for RAD of the year! Your collection has blown up over the past few months. Those likes are well deserved.

 

I was thinking I might have made the initial "500 posts or 500" likes requirement a tad too high.

So, in the spirit of X-Mas and giving...and wanting to get rid of this.. I'm...

lowering the requirement to 100 post or 100 likes.

Maybe that will allow someone that might have been interested to join in.
