or.."my first experience with the legendary Personna 74" I usually rotate day by day between four razors with a different blade in each but I'm using this blade exclusively until it's shot, which according to legend may be as long as a month, we'll see.I put one in my Fat Boy, set it at 6 and here we go Day one: Brush: Rooney Heritage Stubby size 3 Soap: Pre de Provence, face lathered Results: I got a little careless on the first pass forgetting what I had in the razor and gave myself a wee little nick, but that was entirely my fault. After my usual three passes I have to say I've never had a smoother, closer shave in my life. That's not to say I haven't had others as smooth and as close, but I can't remember when. The proof in this pudding though is going to be in how long it lasts.....http://www.bruceonshaving.com/2010/07/30/personna-74-the-ultimate-razor-blade/ like I said, we'll see. I'll be reporting
Late report, Second day Brush: Rooney Heritage Stubby 3 Cream: TOBS Sandlewood, bowl lathered Results: Damn! To me, this seems every bit as sharp as a Feather or anything else out there, and way smoother. Not THE smoothest blade I've ever used but smooth.
Keep the reports coming....As most of us will never experience a Personna 74,we can only live vicariously through you....
I've never had the joy of this blade, but hope to score one someday. I've had a couple of vintage blades that were really nice.
Day three The Rooney Heritage Stubby one last time and MWF bowl lathered.....and I've finally dialed that sucker in. If you have an adjustable back it down a notch or two. Completely blood and whisker free. Amazing shave. I've had my hands on my face all day. Both as sharp as the sharpest current blade and as smooth as the best as well.
