I'm considering destroying this Vie Long butterscotch beehive handle to transplant the horsehair knot into a cypress handle my Dad turned for me that I like better. Upgrade or blasphemy? What say you?
If you want a really nice transplant Beehive handle, take a look at the RazoRock offering, much cheaper.
Most Vie Long brushes are so inexpensive the handles can be considered disposable, considering they are the best source of horse hair knots. I say put the hammer to it.
They're both nice handles. It seems a shame to destroy the beehive. If you can salvage it, you might want to use it for another knot, or just PIF it away.
How about a nice synthetic horse hair? https://www.etsy.com/listing/491595385/22mm-faux-horse-extra-dense-synthetic?ref=shop_home_active_7
I find the beehive to be attractive, but as others have said, (cue music) It's your thing...do watcha wanna do"
The beehive looks really nice, and I couldn't google a replacement beehive from Vie Long. They might not make the beehive anymore. But, I did see some Vie long horse hair brushes for $22. If you absolutely don't like/don't use the brush you have, then jam it in the bench vise and crank away. But, if you use it even a little, consider buying the cheapest Vie Long with the knot that you want, and destroy the new one.
Sorry, I forgot to tell you. I think a horse hair knot will look awesome in both of the cypress handles. I say, find two knots and do them both. No matter what you decide, I am looking forward to seeing the final result.
I say you are completely out your mind !!! Insane !! Lol But you bought it and you own it. You are free to do as you wish. I like all the handles. Target sells a relatively cheap vie long that you can ravish!
I think the only thing nuttier would be if you joined an internet discussion board where most of the conversation is about shaving. Oh... wait...
