Astra Superiors

    Interesting, I thought the Astras had a very unpleasant roughness (in a Feather Portable), where the yellows and swedes are both smooth. The Astras also had a very unpleasant machine oil smell, but then again, they're cheaper.

    Astra Superior Platinum are my favorite blades and I bought 100 in the group buy on SMF. I've never had a problem with SMF. I don't find B&B to be at all useful so I am there infrequently.

    I noticed that there are numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the Astra blade. Are they significant? I'm using a Merkur 38C and I see a 3 on the head after I remove the safety bar. To be safe I just aligned the 3 on the blade with the 3 on the head anyway.

    Nope. Most blades have some sort of numbers on them. The general consensus is that they're for manufacturing purposes.

    Thanks Truckman. I guess it won't hurt to align the 3's then. :D
