It has finally hit me. The way I understand Beard Reduction is that you are not removing the facial hair but simply shortening it. I thought of DE shaving , or Wet shaving in general as beard removal such as what you get with a cartridge razor. Thinking about why they created the cartridge in the first place this makes sense , because you get a closer shave with the cartridge. versus a DE, which if you want a closer shave you need to do multiple passes. This also explains as to why guys such as I with curly and coarse facial hair no longer get Razor Bumps. Why did this take so long to realize?

Well you are removing it. Just not below the skin as with a cartridge.

I read as read and read before i gathered enough courage to start DE shaving. So far so good, not the closest shaves but irritation free and razor bump free.

Being a student I always want to know why. And because I take my time I can "see" how it works when shaving. When I was using cartridge I could feel the pull and cutting and I always got irritation.

The beard reduction and the no pulling was the reason I converted =P
