    Final shave report - Meehan

Third day with the Meehan today.
It's a pretty neat razor - it sure has the ability to give you a very close shave but you do have to keep it on a short leash so it doesn't bite you.
I actually enjoyed using it more than I thought I would but due to its short handle (I'm a long handle kinda guy) it won't be a razor I'll hold on to at the end of the year. Too bad, I really do like its rather unique industrial look.

    Shave Report - Unknown #2

First shave with a truly no-name razor (no markings on it at all).

Popped a Feather blade in it, whipped up some of the amazing i Coloniali Mango soap and went to work....

A very different razor to the Meehan I just used. This is a very audible razor which I think is due to a combination of the blade being elevated on thee raised areas on the bakelite baseplate as well as the larger blade gap. I actually found that I rather enjoyed the audible feedback quite a bit.

It was a very smooth shave - no issues at all, no cuts or even feeling that I was ever in risk of one.
Handle felt good. It's hollow so didn't have a whole lot of weight to it.

At the end of the second pass I was very clean shaven. I did have to do some touch-up passes on my neck but nothing too bad.
I'll actually enjoy using it tomorrow.

Will it be a keeper? Not sure, probably not as I'm trying to only keep 12 razors but I have to say I will feel a bit sad seeing it go due to how well it performed and, how cool that bakelite baseplate is :)

Interesting. I wonder what that razor is. Have you tried using a different baseplate with it? Great write up!

I haven't tried that but now I might do that - having said that I quite like that thick baseplate :)
Yeah, I don't think I'll ever be able to accurately determine where that thing was made.

Last day with the Unknown #2 - "No-name bakelite baseplate razor"

Overall it was a surprising razor. It balanced mild and aggressive very well and provided nice (for some reason high pitched) audible feedback.
The bakelite baseplate felt really nice against my face as a I shaved and even with its relative thickness I didn't have any issues shaving under my nose for instance.
A good, rather attractive design that I'm surprised you don't see more often.
Sure, the handle could had been a bit heavier (it's hollow) and the quality of the metal probably isn't where it should be - but did I enjoy the shaves? Yes I did :)

And, here's for @Mr. Shaverman showing the razor with a baseplate from a Swedish Matador razor :)
