It's part of the unwritten law of wet shaving. "No matter how much you like your first shave brush, you will eventually find another that you like better."
My starter kit: EJ89 Lined Handle Astra SP's TOBS Sandalwood Cream Vulfix 404 Brush Blubeards Revenge ASB Alum Still use the EJ89 sometimes. It's easy to forget how smooth it is.

I started with a Vulfix 1000A brush and Ray's of Colorado Bay Rum soap. I didn't buy a DE razor right off the bat because I was sure I had my old Gillette DE somewhere in the house. Never found it though. Eventually got an Edwin Jagger DE87 (still use it) and Derby blades (yuch).
