Was a few days late on my weekly Saturday blade change this morning. Put a fresh Derby in my Blue tip & proceeded to drag what felt like a rusty knife across my face. Only did 2 or 3 swipes. Changed the blade, smooth shaving again. Had I changed razors, I might have thought it was the razor and not the blade. Had this been my first time using Derby, I might have thought the blade was garbage and never tried it again. All of this to say-if you try a new blade and it doesn't work well-just throw another one in the razor to be sure. I love the Derby. But sometimes a blade just doesn't come out right- any blade. Cheers from Knoxville!
Guess I'm one of the odd ones - been using a DE for a little over nine years and I've never come across a dud blade. Oh, I've dealt with bad blade brands, but never a single dud out of a pack that was otherwise good.
Good advice. Dud, bad juju, blade not aligned? I don't know. But I have had one also. Like you say. Best to grab a new blade and start fresh. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Only one? Every Derby blade I've used so far has been a dud. Seriously though, I've seen some duds among Voskhod blades. Depending on brand an odd dud is not impossible.
I've used a lot of DE blades and I have only had one that was a dud. I don't remember the brand though. It was a long time ago. I didn't finish the shave. I just changed it out and continued.
Typically, with any pack of blades, you get 1 that is a dud. Ive had this happen to me even with Feathers.
How do you define "typical"? Nine years and I've had none. Matt has never had one. Jim has had just one. Not saying it doesn't happen, but I would say it is rare, not typical, for any pack of blades.
I like Derby blades. I used to think they weren't very good, but I was using them in very mild razors. Once I used a Derby blade in a medium aggressive razor, it worked very well.
