For those who use disposable razors or razors with the disposable blades, how many do you use monthly?
Roughly 11-13 blades per month = 133/152 annually. Looking at my inventory, this means I should have enough to last until June of 2028...
2 shaves per blade. Somewhere between 10-15 blades per month. I have a solid 5 years of blades in stock.
Blades for weekdays: Most DE blades at least 5 shaves. Carbon DE blades get a rehone / restrop treatment in an Allegro model L sharpener and last at least 10 to 20 shaves. SE blades last at least 10 shaves. So on average three blades a month. = 36 blades a year. Weekends: Rolls blades last indefinately as do str8 blades.
I shave every day, always three passes. A fresh DE blade goes in every Monday and gets tossed after Friday's shave. Saturdays are for my straight razors. A fresh SE blade goes in on the first Sunday of every other month. I use an SE razor every Sunday and the blade gets tossed after the eighth shave.
I haven't used or even touched a cart razor blade in almost 3 years now... I always tried to get a week(5-7 days) out of a DE blade...But I've stopped worrying about that lately and just use the blade until it stops shaving well then I change it....I could change the blade in two days or two weeks, although modern blades are pretty regular, every blade is still slightly different...
About 4 DE blades, about 5 shaves on an Astra SP one injector per mo, about 6 or 7 shaves on Schick Super Platinum one SE per month, about 4 shaves on a Gem SS Use the Valet Auto Strop a couple times a month and I have a Japanese blade in there now, don't know how long that will last. Shave everyday Dave
Everyone's beard is different. Some have heavy beards. Some very light beards. Some have patches of hair. Some have peach fuss. So. A blades life will be different for my heavy beard, and someone's very light beard. Like I wrote before. At this stage in my life it's about comfort and not worrying about a 12 cent blade.
