From slashdot... you might want to think about it seriously before upgrading http://tech.slashdot.org/story/15/0...n-windows-10-potential-privacy-mess-and-worse the full article: http://lauren.vortex.com/archive/001115.html and here: http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2015/07/29/wind-nos/ and others, I'm sure.
10 wants to do what with my wifi password? I haven't gotten the download yet but now I'm seriously reconsidering.
I am having issues with the sleep function of 10. When it sleeps, it takes 5 minutes or so to wake up, and it does not return me automatically to where I was working. After I get going, it seems to work fine though. I think it is still learning about how I do stuff.
I do like the new Edge browser so far.................... At present, there is no way to reorganize your Favorites yet.
I am sticking with Chrome for now. It works great and is very familiar. It doesn't take up as much real estate as the IE did.
I updated my laptop to windows 10 yesterday and now I cannot attach to my WiFi router at the house. Any hints would be appreciated.
I guess about the same goes for google. Dunno about Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, OSX etc etc. *sigh* I'm on Linux Mint.
OK, the only significant problem I have found is that I can no longer use my webcam. I tried to Skype and found out it doesn't work anymore. Anyone else have that problem?
We all know there's a lot of Microsoft haters out there (often with good reason) but a rundown I read - true or not? - said 10 logs every keystroke, etc. Another, if I read it right, said things are default uploaded...somewhere...with a buried setting that has to be located and then turned off in order to opt out. Yet another claimed it automatically uses the webcam; for what, I don't know. Again, maybe all this is anti-MS hype but I'm sticking with 7 until enough people have had time to fine tooth comb the thing.
Just checked, and my camera is working today. I think things came up a little quicker when I started today. I figure there are probably a lot of things going on in the background as this thing learns. I am assuming things will get faster and a little easier as the days go by. Skype seems to work OK now too. Getting better.
I tried to update my laptop yesterday and was not successful. I added my email address to the invitation list. Whatever that means.
Only problem I had was had to update my Epson driver before I could print. Haven't seen anything better with 10 that I saw in 7. Think maybe about the same.
I turned off my sleep mode completely. It just did not work. Now when I shut the lid to my laptop, it shuts down. I just make sure to save anything open before closing the lid. It was taking up to 10 minutes to get started from shutting down, but today I was up and running in about 4 minutes. It is getting better. Once going, everything seems to work well.
I like open source as much as the next guy but unfortunately LINUX is simply not a viable option in many cases
