If I had it all to do over I would have these soaps in my den: Tabac Mitchell's Wool Fat TOBS Avocado TOBS Cedarwood Saponificio Varesino (I have Colonia, Dolomiti, Felce Aromatica) Savonnerie du Bon Berger (I have Cedar Mandarin and Lavender Rosemary) The Dolomiti has become my favorite over Tabac and Mitchell's. I have a bunch of others but they do not provide the enjoyment these do. Too many to PIF. Guess I could do a fire sale.
You forgot the TSD Wheat Cream! https://www.theshavedenshop.com/the-shave-den-wheat-shaving-cream.html
Yeah..... I guess we all have our ADs. Soap has always been my weakest link. I have some Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow and Astra SP blades in use. I have 20 or so Feathers but have not used one for a long, long time (too sharp). I have not acquired a razor in a number of years. I am down to acquiring SE/LE brushes only so I have to wait until one of the various forums does a special buy. I am still trying to get my arms around the soap AD. Why, do we, or some of us, think the next soap will be the "best of the best" and will "satisfy the itch? Once we get them they usually sit around and draw dust because we have too many for a sensible rotation. I guess I am reflecting on my soap AD but I am confident this applies to many of us if we will admit it.
Gotta agree with you for the most part, but I would add: Mickey Lee Soapworks (pick your flavor(s) Wet Shaving Products Formula T Matterhorn, Bay Rum, Mahogany, Tobacco, Barbershop TOBS Luxury, Jermyn St, Sandalwood, Mr. Taylors Proraso Blue & Sandalwood Musgo Real Classic Arko Stick Valobra Cologne, Unscented, and Stick Cella L.A. Grooming After the Rain and Southern Paradise First Canadian Maximo Gomez, Vetiver, Taper Fade Cremo Original, Sandalwood, Mango Coconut Sterling Executive Man, Glastonbury, Baker Street, Bay Rum Oh wait... this is my den.
Trust me i know your pain. With my 120 soaps i get to use each 3 times per year. Hahahaha. Its a problem.
The really cool thing is, I have a son who is a wet shaver. I'm his supply house, so if I start to get overwhelmed with the amount of goods I have he goes shopping.
You and I think alike. I introduced both of my sons and share with them a lot. I was introduced to wet shaving by a couple of guys at work and we keep a "library" of stuff to share in a file cabinet. We've introduced others this way, too.
That looks like the box load my son took a couple of months ago. It's great to have an outlet for unwanted goodies.
If I had to do it all over, then I had hoarded the original TFS hard soaps from Italy (from before the Linea Intenso series) like crazy. Unfortunately the Linea Intenso soaps are just as heavily scented as many American soaps (which I don't like for the same reason). A soap should be soapy, with a mild hint of a scent, and not something that lingers for hours. YMMV of course.
I never really caught the soap/cream/crope bug. Razors on the other hand After trying a few different soaps I settled many years ago on Arko. Does exactly want I want/need and does it VERY inexpensively. Although I wouldn't mind a little smell.
Aloha! Hard to say for me because my taste seems to keep changing. OR, at least it "evolves" as I doscover a new soap. I'm thinking perhaps it's the scent as much as it is the cushion that it provides. Currently I'm on a Stirling Soap Company kick and really enjoying the Iced Pineapple and Grapefruit Menthol. But ask me again in six months and I'll probably have new faves. Mahalo! -Zip
I find I am not really looking for the next soap to be the best so much as I get bored easily and enjoy the thrill of discovery. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
