Hello all, I just recieved in the mail a supply of Ted Pella's blades for my 1964 Schick Adjustable Injector, and also in today's Mail I recieved a three bar pack of Crabtree and Evelyn Moraccan Myrrh bath soap/hand soap. So I took my pre-shave shower and tried out the C & E soap and I love it. My skin feels great. I think this soap is going to be an excellent pre shave prep for me. So I'm waiting for the pain in my back to subside so I can shave. I just took this opportunity to make this post and rest a minute before my shave. I will be using my Adjustable Injector today, and a fresh Ted Pella's blade. Photo and post shave report in a few moments.

    Hello All, Good Afternoon again.
    So I just had my first shave with a Ted Pella's blade. Here's the line-up;

    1964 Schick Adjustable Injector.
    Fresh Ted Pella's blade.
    King Louis Lavender shave soap.
    King Louis Lavender AS Splash.
    Kent BK2 badger brush.
360 Red by Perry Ellis cologne.

I did my usual two pass shave. I am still learning how to use my injector, so I know my technique is not perfect yet. In fact I have only used an injector 8 to 10 times in my whole life. But anyway, the Ted Pella's blade performed well in my unskilled hands. I started the shave at a setting of 5 on the dial, and halfway through the pass I upped the dial to 9. It just wasn't efficient enough at 5, but when I upped the volume it went very well. First pass WTG, second XTG. I would score the shave at a DFS. No blood, no skipping, no problems. Oh, and The photo will follow in the next post.

The Schick Adjustable is quite a mild injector Sir...Two passes with a mild injector just doesn't cut it for me...I can only speak for myself here but to me to master a mild injector a 4 pass shaving routine is a good way to start and then a 3 pass shave once you get used to them...The Schick Adjustable has been designed to work on reducing your whiskers on each pass...Whisker reduction...Once I got used to it I can get an all over BBS with 3 passes...These were also designed to be used with Twin blades as well...I rarely use mine with a single blade and when I do I use NOS Schick blades...Its only firing on one cylinder so to speak..;)

Hello Billy, I understand what you are saying. I usually only make two passes with a razor no matter what I'm shaving with. Unfortunately, I have had a bad injury to my back in 2007, and I can't stand up in front of the mirror too long. There are of course other things I can do to manage a three or four pass shave, but in my situation now, I find that I am best off only making two passes and then end the shave. Also, I don't have a dense nor thick beard growth. I don't really have to shave everyday, but I've come to enjoy it so much, that I shave daily whether I need to or not. Or at least that is the case most of the time. So to achieve a BBS for me, does not take as much effort as it does for the average adult male. I appreciate your input, and as you stated, you could only speak for yourself, and as always, shaving is a YMMV thing anyway. But thank you for your input sir. As always I enjoy your posts.

If you need to achieve BBS in one or two passes max....I've found the early Schick E2...the one that opens for cleaning....to be my easiest razor, when I only have time for one pass and touch-up....Just today I snatched a one pass BBS....

Nice Kit! Just beautiful.....I'm in agreement with Billy; as usual }8^))...That is a lovely razor...and one I like to take 3 or 4 leisurely passes with to obtain an irritation free BBS...a little buffing and Gillette sliding about...I would equate that with my I2 as far as aggression and efficientcy....and I just love my I2 BTW...Both these razors are like an Austin Healey 3000 roadster...about as much fun as you can have on a Sunday Afternoon drive....

But when I need to knock it out the park...in one pass with touch up, then the E2 or my ERs 1914 or 1924 need to step up to bat....ha,ha....Those would be more like Muscle Cars....

And I guess the Schick Simplified Automatic would be more like an Auburn Speedster...about as much style as possible and still deadly aswell....ha,ha....although not just about the speed...

Lets see....I'll let @Billyfergie pick which ride the PAL Injectomatic is like........but I'm kind a thinking Robert Mitchums Hot Rod Ford in "Thunder Road"...ha,ha...A blue collar car that was much more deadly than it looked....ha,ha...

After waiting less than patiently for two weeks my C3 finally arrived yesterday. I cleaned it, took it apart, put it together again and took it apart again when it jammed. Second time was a charm and I loaded it with a Personna blade. So, having done that, it was time for a test drive and I shaved with it this morning. :happy088:

The first word that came to mind as I began shaving with it was, "Caveman." There is definitely something primitive about shaving with this razor. It could be the heft of the razor, if could be the lack of blade stops, maybe it's the right angles and no attempt at ergonomics. A good analogy is that it is more like driving a stick shift than an automatic. The shave itself was pretty decent for a first time out. It definitely wants to be flatter to the face than what I intuitively felt would be right and I needed to make that adjustment frequently. I had a lot more touch up work than usual but I really suspect this will change as I get used to the angle.

The Personna worked well in the C3 - it didn't bite or feel harsh, I was able to use a bit of pressure, and I only had a couple of very small weepers. Of course, I'll be looking forward to having a comparison to work with down the road. I'm wondering how a twin blade might work but, then again, maybe I'll go wild and try out a modded Feather, or maybe I should just play it safe with a Schick? It's good to have choices. :happy036:

Yeah that's the ticket Karl...These need to be used at a steeper angle than Injectors...Very much like a straight razor in fact.... The handle is almost sticking straight out Sir...That is to say almost 90 Degrees...;)

A couple more SE razors made it into my den today. I wont be using either this month as Im in the no variation focus with my type F.
I was hoping Billy or anyone else with lather catcher experience could comment on what I think is a Rex Razor. The blades are stamped Rex but the razor has no markings. It is the first LC ive owned so have no experience with them at all. I picked it from France for $7 + shipping.

I have seen these up for grabs in France quite a few times but other than that I don't know anything about them Sir...Just check that a Modern Gem blade is the same size as some of these more obscure Lather Catchers took a wider blade...If the Gem blade sits on the stops and is the same width it should be fine...You may have to use a shim behind the blade to locate in in the forward guides....The PAL Injectomatic shaves well with a Chinese Schick blade and I would highly recommend them in this particular injector...These are Awesome shavers....;)

Shes a beauty Karl, congratulations....You will get used to the new angle...at first I thought it was counter intuitive aswell...But I think thats because we are used to using injectors as a Hoe Type razor and the Repeater is definitely not a Hoe type...It's about keeping that head flat and the heavy square handle is actually really easy at helping you keep that angle when you get used to it...

    Man....shes awful purdy!!
Look how close those blade stops are to the edge of her comb....looks like she might be a wee bit aggressive....but no telling...It will be interesting to hear how she goes...

Please keep us informed on your progress with your F Type.....

    Rufus T. Late for dinner

My ship came in today as well. It arrived from across the pond as I was made aware of it from a tip from @Billyfergie . Thanks as well to @Karl G and @Hodge for taking all my well-intended ribbing as they found their PAL InjectoMatics just a few steps before I could snipe them! :bang:

    ;)

Anyway, photos below. As advertised it appears to have never been used, as the blank is still loaded in the razor. Can't wait to try it, but unfortunately, I'm on a strict 30-day Rule with my new SE for the rest of the month! :angry032:

Thanks all for your help and support!
