1. Welcome to the Den 2. Awesome deal on that FatBoy 3. I got my Slim because it was listed as a "gellett adjutiable" and my FatBoy because it was listed as "vintage razor" and had one of the crappiest photos... I wasn't sure it was a FB, but kinda sure... sorta. Got a Super Speed Black Tip in the deal, too! Woot! Enjoy your FB!
i cant agree with you more. the only way you can snag a deal on that popular bidding site is if you filter you search and stay away from the keyword fatboy. i got a great deal on " 2 vintage shavers"..which turned out to be a D4 fatboy and a Y2 superspeed. got them both for $45. Congrats on you find. clean her up and enjoy.
Soaking the razor in soapy water and then scrubbing it down with a soft toothbrush (or similar implement) physically REMOVES viruses from the surface of the razor, if they were there to begin with, which they likely aren't. A) Most razors don't have old dried blood on them, because people rinse them while they are using them. B) Most viruses don't survive very long outside the body. Hep C does not live in dried blood. There's no way a Hepatitis C virion could survive for a long time in dried blood on a razor. It's a flavivirus. Flaviviruses are enveloped viruses. Generally speaking, when an enveloped virus gets dessicated, it is no longer replication competent. Oh, and like I mentioned, even if it did, you could literally WASH IT OFF the razor. After it is cleaned, wipe it down with some 70% isopropyl alcohol. It will be safe to use. If you decide to use Scrubbing Bubbles on the razor, be careful. If the numbers in the adjustment dial are still black, a soak in Scrubbing Bubbles will remove the paint and they will no longer be black. The value of a Fatboy is much higher when the original paint is still in the numbers. You could always spray some Scrubbing Bubbles on your toothbrush, and then use the toothbrush to clean the top part of the razor while keeping the Scrubbing Bubbles away from the numbers. Enjoy your razor.
