Yes it's an L7 - known as the "Championship" series. I love mine - mild razor that works fantastically with sharp blades - NOS Dutch, mod-Feather AC and the Twin. My recollection from the SE/Injector thread is Twins will work in any Schick after the G series - except - no razor with a hydro-magic head.
Rule number one of Straight Razor shaving, if you are in a hurry don't. My wife and I have a kid free evening, wanted a quick shower and shave. Didn't bring any razor but the straight. Boker is a spike tip. And sharp. Two seperate inch long gashes on the WTG pass. Bad enough that I would have stopped at the first one, but I had visible stubble on one side. I tapped out after the first pass, and took lots of swearing, cold water, alum, and septic pencil to stop the blood. Don't care, date night.
As soon as I read "quick shower and shave" and then saw the word "Boker" I immediately did one of these.. Have fun on date night!!!
Friday Shave Brush- Semogue 620 Razor- Muhle R41/Schick E3 Blade- Gillette Silver Blue/Schick Soap- Stirling Barbershop Post Care- Crystal Alum Thayers Witch Hazel Old Spice Lime I was showing my father in-law my collection and decided to dust off my old daily shaver, the Muhle R41. I loaded it with my favorite DE blade and prepared for a wonderful shave. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Lots of tugging and it was very rough. I was especially careful to ride the cap with zero pressure, it was just very uncomfortable. I looked down and saw my E3, which I've only shaved with once, and used it on my left side and the R41 on my right. The Schick was much more comfortable, no tugging and very smooth. I switched sides for the second pass and again for the third. The Schick performed wonderfully, the R41, so so. I'm BBS everywhere but I'm not sure which razor helped the most, I simply enjoyed using the Schick more. I'm going to try this again to verify but I might be selling off my DE razors, injectors and SE razors have spoiled me. Have a great day folks!
Some things are more important than blood and pain. Double stamp for your man card tonight. Courtesy of the Cartel.
Mmmmmmmm.....lather porn. Thanks for the report on the Swede. Any result is data. And all data is good.
I did the same thing with my Otto Deutsch spike one time. My lovely wife just rolled her eyes and smiled. She seems to have accepted my strange hobby Enjoy your date!
I'll make sure you get one. We really only say they're that bad to hid the wonderful smooth and absolutely silky feel they produce. Trust me.
This was a big deal for me. You will notice most of my shaves are DFS, not BBS. Overall shave is just better when I don't go for perfectly smooth.
Okay, long hard day. Finally got in shave three on the Shark Stainless in the Slim on full throttle. I know this is an Egyptian blade, but it must have some Pharoah's blessing on it or something. Like Neal said it works better at higher settings, but this was a weird shave. I felt like the blade was beginning to show it's true colors, I started feeling some serious tug and drag. I did my full shave and stopped short of chasing the baby, but I am awfully close to BBS. I knew there would be a bonfire when I applied the alum, but once again there was nothing. It's uncanny. This was the most uncomfortable, irritation free shave I've ever had. I'm glad I have no more of these blades, because they are obviously possessed. At any rate that is my report. In the words of Yul Brenner, So let it be written, so let it be done.
No Focus Focus I had a very early morning shave this morning (4am) before taking my wife to the airport. I grabbed a random blade out of the randomized jar and ended up with a Laser. I've never tried one of these blades before and in fact have no idea where I got it. I loaded it in my Red Tip and proceeded to get a very nice two pass shave. With just a little touchup I caught the baby. Now I'm off to Sonoma for the drag races Wolf Whiskers Brush Gillette Red Tip Laser Super Platinum (1) Alum Thayers WH Ogallala Bay Rum Have a great weekend!
Rockwell 6S/ R6 Base Plate/ Rockwell Swedish Stainless Steel Razor Blade (half a pass)/ Voskhod (2) Stirling 24mm Finest The Fat Thayers The Veg Overall great shave today after I swapped out the Rockwell Blade for a Voskhod. Half a pass and quickly decided this blade was not for me... Don't get me wrong it was smooth and comfortable... too smooth and too comfortable.. after I finished half a pass I looked at my face and the lather was gone.... but the stubble was not...almost zero beard reduction so I introduced it to the blade graveyard and popped in a Voskhod. One and a half passes later and I have a solid DFS. Did mess up on the angle on the neck and was rewarded with a nice bite. Oh well, you cant win them all. Finished off with Thayers and after a cold water rinse after clean up I splashed on a big handful of The Veg. Hope everyone is having a great Saturday. Day off today so after some yard work I have a hot date with a cold beer. Going to have some storms rolling in within a hour or so and I cant wait. Nice end to the heat wave out here and we can use the rain.
July Focus Day 30: Stirling Synthetic Brush Arko Cool SC Gem Junior Stirling Unscented PSB Clubman VI Bay Rum AS A very quick, single pass this morning for a SAS. Still comfortable just quick. Put with my wife and infant without the older kids having fun in Houston. I hope everyone has a great day!
Well my Sharp star tech combo is beyond 10. Shaves with no change from new. Everyday BBS in 2 with route 66 and a WD synthetic. I've been switching up the aftershave a bit. I used so a citrus musk, Florida water and a aftershave balm from Russia that I can't pronounce or type correctly. Says it has vitamin F in it and it's very mint and menthol in scent and feel
July 30, 2016 Razor: J2 SuperSpeed Blade: Gillette Platinum Plus (1) Brush: VdH boar Soap: Cella I'm taking a slightly early start at what will be my August focus- razors that don't get a lot of play in my rotation or which I've never even used. First up- my 60's SuperSpeed. This is actually the razor I started with last September when I took up tradition wet shaving. A great starter razor, I put it aside as almost being too mild after falling for my first Slim Adjustable. I've considered PIFing it a couple of times, but seem to have a sentimental attachment to it. For the blade, I wanted to try one which I thought would offset the mildness of the SS. It may be my imagination, but it seems like the Platinum Plus is a bit sharper than the GSB I would normally favor and definitely sharper than the Astra SP which is my normal fallback. I think this ended up being a good choice as I could definitely feel the blade, though not overly so. In the end, a DFS with no blood and no complaints from the Alum.
