    Sunday focus shave.

Something about the Valobra made soaps works great for straight razors. I used C&S 88 today, as I was building the lather I could smell the clay and new it would be a great lather. It turned at very wet and slick as usual. Did my four passes which included one operator error resulting is a small nick on my lip other than that and a small weeper there was no blood. I think this blade is ready for a touch up, it is has been much smoother and sharper, while is still did a good job I am getting spoiled.

Hey, hey, hey!!! Don't you dare badmouth MWF. It's the finest soap made. It has generations of happy users, and all it takes is someone smart enough to know what they're doing! And it is superior in every way to Arko, La Toja, or any other soap in the world!!! How dare you disagree with me. I mean, seriously.....next you'll tell me that not everyone in the world loves Voskhod blades!!!!! HERETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    HERETIC-Burnt-At-The-Stake.jpeg
Now, seriously, anyone who thinks every product works for everyone is just being naive, a super fan boy, or just an idiot. And yes, those who turn their noses up at less expensive products, or products that smell funny (seriously...Tabac's smell determines its effectiveness?!) are showing a lot of ignorance or at the very least misguided loyalty and bias toward their own choices. I know it will come as a shock to many but.......and don't tell my bosses in Moscow I said this........not everyone thinks Voskhod or even another Russian blade is best! Yes, I think they're just under informed and in need of some loving correction, but I say that tongue in cheek as well, of course.

I apologize about the post & run earlier. An appointment called me away and I have just now caught up reading today's posts.
No offense intended @Mr. Freeze93 as to GD straights, Arko, or inexpensive gear. I own several GD's, and lather with Arko often. I'll accept the negative karma points about the ear comment. In "adjusting" your post for comedic effect I was not laughing about your injury. Rather juxaposing my admitted messy lather application methods.
To @Drygulch, you we incidentally collateral damaged. An old Preacher once warned me, "If you stand near the creek, you're gonna get wet."
And Neal @NCoxSTL nothing to apologize about, is there? You invite the Mayhem. It's all Jolly Good June Shenaniganism!

    Razor - Gold Dollar 800

    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, Nivea, The Veg

Saturday morning shave to get ready to go sell big! And, the GD 800 is still doing fine. I concentrated on stropping last night so I wouldn't have to this morning and the edge seems in just as good a shape after a week of me fumbling as it was when I got it. That's a good thing. I'm feeling a bit more comfortable with that. As far as shaving goes, it's getting to be more automatic now with the razor and I think I could switch easily to the smaller Rabbit and do just as good a job. We'll find out at the beginning of the week. Only problem today was a small cut near my adam's apple due to setting down wrong. Just came down a bit to vertical and caught it just as it touched down...but that was enough. Alum closed it up with no problem. Threw on the alum to find a nice cool shave, Nivea to moisturize, and the Veg again as a body splash. Mmmmmm good. And it paid off today. 250% to budget so the Veg is showing its stuff.

Also had mail call today.....the following has landed.

    Myswan.jpg

The Swan safety razor on a stick! Now, the picture makes it look like it's a pretty cheap zinc razor. Rest assured, it is. I'm pretty sure I overpaid for this thing but that's ok, it's unique. The top of the razor slides off the end for loading. I'm not sure how well it will hold a blade yet but I do know it wobbles a bit without a blade. Maybe the blade will tighten it up.....maybe not. I haven't decided which day this will get used on. Monday might work. I have an early morning Dr. Appt., but could shave when I get back. Tuesday is a possibility too. This should be interesting, but when @Drygulch says "Dare You", who am I to say no? Oh, by the way Adam......SWMBO wants your address. Said something about sending my life insurance bill to you.

No apology necessary at all! I'm used to taking the abuse. Like you said, those who sling it better be able to catch it when it comes back around!

So today's shave. I didn't shave until about two PM. I got up pretty early, and by 630 I was working with a neighbor on cleaning up a 90 foot tall silver maple that came down a few days ago. It missed all the other trees, and just needed to be cut up. Measured 39 inches across the base, not getting into the stump. Worked pretty hard and got it all cut and the clean up started. Called it a day at lunch. Decided to temp the menthol gods. Used TSD Purple Haze, with M-Bomb in the lather. Was trimming my facial hair with the electric clippers when my 3 year old burst through the door. Really didn't have an option except to shave it off. Used my Mongoose I got from @Keithmax with the new handle I got yesterday. Blade is shave three in a Kai. Nicely balanced and looks good. Put a little too much M-Bomb in the lather, and it was freaking cold! Since this is the second time I have shaved my upper lip, this is also the first time since going to wetshaving. Used my 28 mm synthetic brush. That beast can splay on my face. First time lathering my upper lip. Lathered up inside both nostrils with splayed tips and mentholated soap. Also realized my skin condition is a mess under my nose because the menthol burned. I also didn't really find the sweet spot for the blade angle under my nose. Snot is running, both eyes watering, and lip is burning while trying to figure out how to shave the lip. Finished my WTG pass. Lathered up for the ATG pass, and got most of it done. Got four weepers two of them on the spots for the skin condition. Had to rinse out the inside of my nose. Don't recommend that. Over all, DFS shave not bad.

Any tips for how to do the upper lip, both with a goose and a straights? I might as well be a noob for this part of my face.

The cartel recommends you suspend the use of any menthol or mentholated products in your shave gear. Seems that stuff has it out for you. Probably a plot by the capitalist imperialist menthol dogs to try and eliminate you. I have had a moustache/goatee for 16 years at this point. I have no idea how to shave my upper lip either, nor do I have a 3 year old to create the need to learn. Such is the benefit of all kids grown, gone, locked out, and my name and number changed to avoid discovery!

No apology needed and no offense taken. I enjoy a good ribbing just as much as I enjoy giving them. Like they say if you cant take the heat... As far as my injury go ahead and laugh! I encourage it and you can join Neal and Adam as they also enjoy my pain. I laugh at my injuries as well...mainly because if I cry anymore the wife will get that pink dress for me that she keeps threatening me with.. which is a double whammy as 1 I don't want to wear a dress and 2 pink is so not my color... I am more of a baby blue type guy...
