Also received today. Man this thing is neat! Before I clamp a blade down in it I'm going to put a dab of oil on the threads of the head. It's a tight fit and I don't want the stem to snap. Thanks again, can't wait to try it out!
@rsilvers I would like to thank you for your generosity by sending you a new puck of TSD lanolin soap - Egg Nog. If you are interested let me know.
This morning's shave with an Astra SP, Truefitt Ultimate cream, and my own blend of Tea Tree pre-shave oil. It was an aggressive, made more so by the sound. But I loved it, BBS. It will probably become my travel razor. Thanks again!
Second use of the One off razor. I am so very impressed. I paired the head and base plate with another handle from a no name hex steel handle. A BBS shave on the second use of this razor leaves me amazed. I am moving this razor into my go to top 3 with the Black beauty slim super ajd. and the 1932 cooper moni-built. I paired it with a wilkenson sword blade (2). The two really worked well together. The razor has an amazingly loud feedback when slicing thru the stubble. No tugging or anything just really loud. Not sure if its the light weight plastic that causes the audible feedback but it truly is the loudest of all my razors. There is no doubt that your doing a job with this razor. It lets you hear every single cut. Will pair it with a Vokshod on the next shave to see if I still get the same feedback.
Just received mine today. It reminded me of those Japanese Gundam Wing models that come as pieces that you break off of a sheet and assemble yourself. I was very excited to open it. Very cool. I will try it either tomorrow or Monday and do a shave vid. It's really cool. May become a road trip travel razor.
Must have been after my time. Don't have any idea what Gundum Wing Models are. Look forward to the video.
It was an early 2000s(I was a freshman in high school) anime about people in robots fighting each other. Typical Japanese Seizure Fighting Robots show. Each model was like $16, and it came as a sheet with plastic pieces, and you had to break the pieces apart and use the instructions to assemble it correctly without breaking anything. Then, once the model was done, it sat on your book shelf looking awesome. Just seeing the razor pieces in the kit reminded me of that. Pretty cool razor though.
After I smoothed the head with a little fine steel wool I was ready to give it a go. Used lukewarm water (not hot not cold) to prevent warping. Using Proraso green and a Voskhod blade I set to work. As has been mentioned this light little razor has a lot of audible feedback. This amazing razor delivered a good shave with an aggressiveness around 5 (IMHO). The only detractor for me is the lightness. Next I'm going to try the head on a tech handle and a tech head on this handle. Thanks again @rsilvers. Also let me know if you are interested in the TSD soap ( it's outstanding)
Yes, thank you for the soap offer. I would like to try it. BeeGee, Voskhods blades were the main ones that I wanted to try that I have not - so it would be great. Thank you.
I am getting one made out of bronze now. It will be about three weeks before I get it. And I may be away for a week when it arrives. You know how that goes.
Just tried it and made a video. Great shave. Got a little ATG chin blood(trying to train my chin to let me go ATG. No fault of the razor whatsoever). The lightweightness just makes me feel like I'm using a more aggressive Fat Handle Tech razor. It's a great little razor. Perfect amount of aggressiveness for me with familiar geometry. No trouble. Kind of has that pretty aggressive with no weight Shavette feel too.
I was out of town when min arrive, but I tried it out this morning. As others have mentioned, there was a lot of audible feedback, which I always enjoy. I was surprised at how aggressive it was given that it was so light, but this worked out well for me, as I was able to keep from applying too much pressure. I got a great shave out of it with no irritation. I had one nick, but that was me relaxing my chin as I was coming up with the blade. Thanks again to @rsilvers for his generosity. I think the razor is a winner.
The soap is on the way. Don't know what I was thinking....gave my tech away about a year ago so I can't try this head with a tech handle but I did use this handle with a travel tech head today. Definitely not as aggressive but a great travel handle...light and longer than the travel tech handle.....a great combo
