I posted in How's Your Day a NDC Super Speed I picked up on the road. It has the extra "collar" on the "neck" that is typically seen only on Black Tips. So please correct me if my thinking's fuzzy: being NDC, it's pre-1951 (could be 1950) but has the same odd handle design of Black Tips. So did Gillette produce a line of pre-Black Tip Super Speeds using this neck design? I know it's not particularly rare, just curious where this one fits in, time-wise, and I don't see it represented at Mr. Razor.
I had to look at a magnified view of your photo below. It is a 1947 SuperSpeed. It is a rare variant, it was the first design made after the conclusion of the Ranger Tech series. Here is mine below. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/gratuitous-safety-razor-photos.35278/page-3#post-622160 Here it is from Mr. Razor's site. In 1948 Gillette did away with the smooth portion to cut costs. I hope this helps.
Thanks, I looked right past it at Mr. Razor. Truth be told, the shave did strike me as reminiscent of the RT...remarkably smooth, even for a Super Speed.
