Sorry if already posted - but in case it's not/you haven't read Gillette are now selling a new/re-introduced (old stock?) DE blade "Gillette Platinum Plus". Supposedly they perform very well, are made in Brazil and will set you back $5.99 for a nine-pack at your local Walgreen's (if that particular store carry them that is).
I've read of some other Gillette's that are made in Brazil but I cant find which ones they were right now.
There are a some threads discussing them Link 1 Link 2 Link 3 Apparently Hy-Vee is selling them as well (3-pack for $2.49)
So, do we buy them to show demand and spur increased production, or do we balk at the price? I'd like to try some out.
I just stopped at Walgreens.. They didn't have any. But looking at the prices listed here. Those are some expensive blades.
Probably much better, too. VDH blades shredded my face. If these are anything like the original Plat Plus blades, they'll be worth the price. I've got like 7 left that were included with my '59 Fatboy. Great blade.
The box says 3 blades and just below that the package says 9? Not very consistent packaging. Anyway I'd be interested to try them but $6 for 3 blades. Wow! They had better be as good as the 'Spoilers'. Its hard to tell maybe multiple boxes of three packs in the blister pack, so $6 for 9 is a better I suppose. I'll have to check next time I see a Walgreens.
Hope to hear from someone that's tried them. That does seem a bit expensive but they may be worth it. I think it would be hard for Gillette to make a blade better than GSB IMO.
They are not listed on Walgreens site. Must be in store only. I have two in the area that I am going to check tomorrow.
$5.99+tax .. comes out to about .72-cents per blade so 100 blades would be $72 I will stick to my Astra SP blades that i can purchace online for $9.99 per 100 with free shipping .. i could buy 700 of them for what 100 of these Gillettes cost
Walgreens in Oxford MS is a bust. They did have VDH soap, blades, and razor. Also had the Studio 35 blades, but no Gillette blades.
