Not too bad. Pretty lol when he takes a big swig and puff at the beginning, and his "Ooooohhh yeahhhhhh!" look at the very last second of the video is good too.

Nice find! Anyone know the name of the first song played in the video?

    Great video.

For some reason, all I can think of are those old spice swagger commercials.

I linked to this video from the one above:

The first thing I thought was that his lather looked pretty weak (to my untrained eye, anyway)...

But what really got me was when he started shaving and my 7 year old daughter says, "That doesn't sound good, Daddy. Is that how it's supposed to sound?"

I said, "Yup, that sounds good to me!"

That first shave is impressive. Cool tunes, too.

I'm still collecting the necessary items to begin this hobby, but can I expect to be done with my shaves in that amount of time after reading all I can and practicing for a few shaves? My electric razor takes roughly the same amount of time, I reckon. Thanks.

Welcome to The Shave Den, Mr Mustard!

A few shaves? Ummmm......perhaps, but usually it takes more time than that. Each person is different though.

Going from an electric to a straight? I would say, not likely to be a fast or easy change.

Thankfully you can expect whatever you like since it is your own skill and effort you are measuring, as the straight razor will only do what it is asked by the shaver!

The fellow in that video has been shaving with a straight razor for several years. I take anywhere between 5 and 45 minutes to shave with my straight.

Thanks for the warm welcome y'all. :)

I use cartridge and DE razors too, but yeah, the electric is for those quick, satisfactory shaves.

ha. But yeah, I wonder if that guy shaves that quickly all the time? (Or drinks regularly while shaving, for that matter!) I would imagine that being rather fast with a straight razor will come with practice, but even if you're taking your time and going slowly, it'd be a good opportunity to relax.

When I started with a straight, it took around 35-40 minutes to get the desired results. Now I am down to about 15. Sure, much of that is greater familiarity with a straight after over a year, but much of that is also having had about two+ years experience now with the brush and lather, so that I can nearly always make the kind and consistency of lather I like without a lot of time experimenting. It's a total-package deal. So the time will be relative based on the experience you have already had with your DE and brush, etc.
