The Gillette Prison Techs with their lock & key handle have been a very interesting collectible item and I've been wanting to add one to my collection. While I didn't mind acquiring other vintage razors, I was hesitant to add a used prison tech to my collection due to the fact that they were used in prisons. I've waited a while to add a "true" NOS prison tech razor set to my collection. Recently, a British made NOS prison tech set came up for auction complete with ten razors and one key, all in the original shipper and wrappers. I ended up winning the auction and received the razor set few days ago. Some pictures of the 10 piece razor set: What appears to be brassing on the razors in this picture is simply the color of the shipper reflecting off of the razors inside: Close-up of the razor and the key: Razor head, inscribed "Made in England": Razor date code is "G1" dating this set to the first quarter of 1961: These sets do not pop up in eBay often in such complete and NOS condition so I'm glad to have won this set!
You interested in breaking up the set. I have worked in corrections for the past 28 years and would love to add one of those to my collection.
Thanks alpla444! Indeed, original keys are hard to find and I'm glad that I was able to purchase a complete set with its original key! Really sorry mate, I intend to keep this as a complete set in my collection. The set unfortunately would lose its "completeness" even with just one less razor.
Great score! I saw a set of those posted on here about a year ago. Really interesting razors, the psychos.
I bet the added heft makes for a nice Tech shave. Were British Techs more aggressive than the U.S. ones, as was sometimes the case?
