Lovely time for a mid-day walk on the Mendocino coast; Northern California.

 

I wasn't far from there when I visited Best Friends Animal Sanctury in Kanab a few years ago. Sure is great down there.

The spring thaw in Holland, MI. I'm out here often.

 

Skeeters so bad the girls are wearing sweatshirts in 65 degree weather. Not a hint of a breeze to keep them off. Normally I avoid using it, but I just doused up in DEET. Fishing was only so-so.

 

Jarod: head over here to northern Michigan. 75 deg Nd humidity is 46%. But the fishing isn't that great either, however it's good enough to keep a 10 year old occupied

 

Thought that was from the winter. Those are some badass skeeters!

 

Beat the sun in Mesa today getting ready to go up with my students. I finally got the battery for my camera charged!

When you fish at night, you gotta have some breeze or they will darn near carry you away. Shortly after dark, the wind just shut down to nothing.

Taking little kids fishing is one of the true joys in life. I miss those days.

My best fishing buddy of 25+ years and I out on the lake right in town, just ducking out for a couple hours after work. She put two nice walleyes in the boat in the first half hour, so since supper is covered, now she is "making" me take her for a ride up the river.

I tell you what: Minnesota really sucks in the winter, but it is worth it all come summer.

 

Walleyes don't bite under the ice?

 

They do, but inside the shack, fishing becomes a secondary goal, taking a backseat to cribbage for a penny a point, and kanoopers of brandy. Being that stationary means more perch, and you take the walleye when he swims by.
