I believe it was on this forum, a gentleman posted some photos of a Gillette new long comb that had two slightly oblong holes drilled into the comb/base plate. It was hyposothyzed as having been an amateur do it your self job to make a base plate fit multiple razors. but I just found on ebay a complete good will shipper box, blade pack, in the "patent pending" literature, pamphlets, and a Gillette NEW long come with "old type" handle and the base plate is visible as having the two holes in the bottom.
I'm hypothesizing, but IF the OP typed a similarly spelled word in this particular context, THEN it may be safe to assume you are correct. Since the OP is no longer a TSD member, who knows for sure?....
You could always invite him back to get these vexing little questions answered... BTW, fwiw, my own hypothesis is that the razor the OP saw in a Goodwill razor box that had two "oblong holes" in the baseplate was a Goodwill that had been modified by the owner by grinding off the diamond blade holder posts to allow the razor to use cheaper generic "3-hole" blades instead of Gillette's fancy proprietary ones...
I remember that post. The holes in it were surely drilled by an owner trying to modify it. They were off center and asymmetrical.
OPYour post OP probably drilled the wholes to sell on the bay as something special. ... to be continued... Don
