razor question solved.

I believe it was on this forum, a gentleman posted some photos of a Gillette new long comb that had two slightly oblong holes drilled into the comb/base plate. It was hyposothyzed as having been an amateur do it your self job to make a base plate fit multiple razors.

but I just found on ebay a complete good will shipper box, blade pack, in the "patent pending" literature, pamphlets, and a Gillette NEW long come with "old type" handle and the base plate is visible as having the two holes in the bottom.

I'm hypothesizing, but IF the OP typed a similarly spelled word in this particular context, THEN it may be safe to assume you are correct.

Since the OP is no longer a TSD member, who knows for sure?....

BTW, fwiw, my own hypothesis is that the razor the OP saw in a Goodwill razor box that had two "oblong holes" in the baseplate was a Goodwill that had been modified by the owner by grinding off the diamond blade holder posts to allow the razor to use cheaper generic "3-hole" blades instead of Gillette's fancy proprietary ones...

 

I remember that post. The holes in it were surely drilled by an owner trying to modify it. They were off center and asymmetrical.

 

I feel hypnotized by this thread. I think I remember that razor too.
