    Simpsons Commodore X3 Best Badger
    Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Deja Fougere
    Schick Repeating Razor Type A
    Stirling Unscented PSB -- Mentholated

I broke out the Type A for Mt final shave of the year. I was a but rushed but it provided a nice DFS without much effort. A great shaver.

    Opinions Wanted

Greetings all, I'm back on the scene and preparing for a 30 day focus on my various injectors over the course of the next 4-5 months.

First up will be my Schick C1 Repeater. I will use it exclusively for the entire month of January. (Updates on the 30-day Focus thread.)

I am going to use four or five different blade types.

    Question:
If you've used a C1 for any length of time, what was your favorite blade?
If you haven't used a C1, but used a C2/C3, what was your favorite blade for those razors?

I currently have the following blades, that will be manually loaded.
I'm not going to chance using the repeater mechanism for this focus.

    Schick - China
    Schick Platinum - Holland
Schick Ultra Platinum - Holland (1970-ish?)
Schick Plus Platinum - US (1980-ish?)
Feather Pro (Artist Club) Can these be cut down to fit the C1?
Schick Twin Injector (1973) Are these thin enough to fit the C1?
Personna? (a blank white Personna blade key that probably came with my Personna Adjustable or InjectoMatic.)

I will attempt to obtain any others that come via your recommendeds.

    Many thanks in advance,
    RT

Billy used the twins last month in his repeater. He loved it. The blades fit fine. As the old blades are thicker than the new ones. So the twin will work perfectly.

Keep us posted on your outcomes on each blade. This will be fun to follow.

I think that one ended a day or two ago. I wonder if anyone here picked it up.

A January 30-day focus with my Schick Type C1 - The Simplified Schick Automatic Razor.

With it’s compact design, my goal is to use it exclusively as my travel razor. So I want to build up my technique with it, as well as determine the best blade for my use with it. I hope to try four different blades for 4-5 shaves each.

I’ll use soap and brush combinations that I will normally travel with.

    Shave 2
    Hot Shower
    Soap: Arko Stick
Brush: Rubberset 300N 'Plastiset' Nylon 2-tone Brown/Amber Lucite
    Razor: Schick Type C1
    Blade: Schick (China) (2)
    TSD Witch Hazel
    Aftershave: Myrsol Blue

This morning I realized that yesterday’s shave wound up better than I thought based on my morning growth. So I went out on a limb for the first (or perhaps second) time ever and chose to do a 1-pass ATG shave.

I started by seeing how much water my Arko-rubbed face could take. It took a lot! I added water until just prior to breakdown of the lather. No dryness today. But that little travel brush was overwhelmed with lather. Tangent - in case you had not noticed, the knot on this vintage brush is nylon. I’ve never used or even read about nylon brushes before but it surprised me about how much water it holds. I had expected water to just run through it. But with careful addition, it holds up very well.

The shave was better than yesterday regarding coverage, though I did some touch up work due to the one pass. I had four or five weepers that closed with cold water, plus more irritation. My self-critique is that I was so focused on a one-pass shave, I may have been applying too much pressure onto the blade. So more to work on tomorrow.

    Cheers!

Ditto the above for Shave 3 with the Schick (China) on Wednesday, only better! Still smooth and close after 12 hours!
The C1 and Schick (China) is a great, dare I say, fantastic combo!
But my blade testing continues, next blade up: NOS Schick (Holland)

    Cheers!

Dare say, dare say.....I agree, simply smashing!....Course I love the C3s performance with anything I've put in it...if it's got an edge....lol
But, the C3 with the Chinese Schick blade was and is fantastic!

Wow, I see you have 2 different Dutch blades? Very interesting.....If I were a gambling man...I believe something Dutch will probably distinguish itself....Aww man...we have to wait for you to grow more whiskers between each blade....:char039:.........Schick......Toc......Schick.......Toc.......}8^))

    Sorry MrB,
Early morning audible...game plan revised...Thursday's shave cancelled due to lack of visually discernible whiskers!
(actually, a hand inspection reveals very light growth in the usual high growth spots. A pass today provides a better challenge for a new blade on Friday.)
    Cheers!

Moved to the second blade in the trials, Schick blade from Holland thanks to @Hodge !

2-day growth 3-pass shave. (WTG, XTG, ATG)

First pass reduction was very good. This seems to be a sharp blade.

This razor seems fool-proof and since I have already gotten used to the near perpendicular blade angle, I will use the rest of the month to build a solid two-pass shave routine with the C1. My business travel days are so packed that I’d like the travel shave to become automatic. My first four shaves lead me to believe it’s possible.

Today’s shave with the Dutch Schick was as clean as the other shaves but the Chinese Schick felt a tad smoother. I’l shave 3-4 more times with the Dutch to test that.

One thing for sure, this brush is a two-pass brush.
It is too small to hold enough soap for a 3-pass shave utilizing face lathering - which I prefer, especially on the road. No worries because using a soap stick, it’s easy to just reapply soap directly to my face between passes and do a quick relather, which Arko and LaToja are very capable of providing. Plus, I’ve already gotten a couple 1-pass ATG shaves from this razor when I have a 24-hour growth.

    I’m loving this focus.

    Cheers!

Hey man....I know we had this discussion at the Seattle Shave-Con....The Omega 10029 Baby-Pro boar....This brush is small enough for a large prescription bottle for travel...I carry mine in a tube formally for vitamin c fizzy tablets...
And this guy holds enough lather for the whole team to get 3 passes.......We are talking baseball right?...Piece of cake, this brush could hold enough lather for all 8 guys to get a good shave, as long as I get to go first....lol! I use mine daily whether traveling or not, and it's only shedded maybe 4 or 5 hairs in like 4 years....
Unless you have a problem with pig hair, you should grab one....The bloom is thicker than yours but its not any taller....

Looks good next to your razor doesn't it?

Those Dutch blades are really sharp & demand a "Feather like Touch "...They can be less forgiving than a Chick blade for sure but they are smooth with a super light touch ..Its very easy to shave too close with them even in a milder injector..They can be almost be too much blade in a Repeater..I do use them in my repeater's myself though..Anytime that I am using them I always have to remind myself how deceptively sharp they actually are...They demand that bit extra focus..Just think of the delights of Amsterdam whilst you are shaving with them..:rah:..:D

Three shaves with the Dutch Schick and I think I'm gaining positive experience with this blade. It is very sharp. Using the advice of our resident injector blade expert @Billyfergie (use a "feather like touch" and "that extra bit of focus") I'm getting really close shaves, while having reduced weepers. Only need to work on the usual trouble areas (chin and corners of mouth) and this is one fine blade.

    Cheers!

Blade: NOS Schick Plus Platinum circa 1980 (USA) (1)

Three shaves with the Dutch Schick. With a bit more work, I think it'll be as easy as the Chinese Schick. Wanted to spend more time with it but have three more blades to try before end the of month.

Leaving for my first business trip of the year so a quick shave, very close, smooth and easy with the Plus Platinum and I'm on the road.

    Cheers!
