I have a Fossil 54 Italian leather Dopp kit. I've spent years putting the kit together. I'll post pics soon

It's not up to my usual gold standard of photography. The settings are all messed up on my camera, because I got a new wide angle lens and was playing with it all day today. I managed to get a halfway decent picture before the battery gasped out it's last picture and shut the camera down. The charger, naturally is at work:(. I'll try to get a better shot and show the contents tomorrow afternoon. (This is what happens when you set it for long exposure and don't use a tripod.)

I do like the size of that Dopp Bag PLANofMAN, looks very similar in size to a Ralph Lauren RRL Leather Dopp I am looking at. Thanks for posting the piccie mate.

I got a pretty good deal on the frameback dopp bag, but I had to pay an arm and a leg for the messenger/laptop bag and the duffel/overnight bag. I didn't realize at the time that Fossil 54 was Fossil's boutique level stuff. You can't order it online. All you can do is cross your fingers and hope that your local Fossil store gets more pieces of that collection. It took me four years to find just those 3 pieces.

I had a look at your photo's from the link PLANofMAN. Your razor case is sensational (as is the rest of the kit). You have given me a renewed inspiration to keep searching for right ingredients for my Dopp kit. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the compliments, guys.

The best advice I can give you is to keep it simple. Try to find travel sized tubes and bottles of your regular shampoos, toothpastes and deodrants, etc. and when they get low, refill them from your full size items. Remember, your travel kit can also double as an emergency reserve supply when you unexpectedly run out of something. Try to keep at least a week's worth of grooming supplies in there. Some of you may be surprised to see a travel size can of Axe body spray in there. It's in there for a simple reason- sometimes when I'm on the road, I don't have time to freshen my clothes (i.e. wash them) I can hit them with a quick burst and conceal any "This should have been washed smell." I never use Axe in my normal everyday life because I consider the overpowering odor to be a liability. I do like the body wash, and it's easier to travel with than a bar of soap. Most of my travel size items I've picked up at Wal*Mart, but for those of you with more refined tastes, websites like this one can be a real boon: http://www.minimus.biz/

The miniature shave bowl was an oddity that I picked up at Goodwill as part of a three bowl set for a dollar. I don't know if it's a lid to something or what, but the top has a ledge projecting inwards that helps to keep the lather on the inside of the bowl, an essential when you don't have much room, but still want to bowl lather.

Keeping it simple is good. I use an LL Bean Toiletry bag. Having recently switched to solid shampoo & conditioner bars has reduced the number of liquids that can leak or spill. But I cut the bars in half, to fit into soap dishes. (Not a problem, as a whole bar lasts for 6-8 weeks anyway.)

I don't travel a lot but for the past 10-12 years I have used an LL Bean Dopp style black canvas bag with heavy vinyl lining. It was less expensive than leather and just as tough. I have never tried the hang-up type but it would seem to be a practical choice also.

I just use a black Adidas kit. My grandma gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago and found it again last year. The bag looks kind of small, but I can fit quite a bit of stuff in it.

The hang up kits are really nice, but don't have the classic vintage "feel" I appreciate. On the other hand, they are excellent when counter space is at a premium. Point in case:

Should have it be end of next week! I'm excited to get it. I've never had a toiletry bag before. I'll have it in time for when I travel to Las Vegas, NV and Boston, MA.

If you go to the Skincare section of the forum, the top thread should be shampoo bars.
