I've NEVER even heard of 'Proraso?' O'kay,...I'm from Northern Kentucky! And, I'm OLD! Since I've been on this site...I've kept an 'eye-out' for it,; to NO avail?

The closest store that you can find the same product, but renamed is Bath and Body Works. The C.O. Bigelow shave cream in the green tube is made by Proraso and sold under the C.O. Bigelow line. You can take advantage of their buy 2 and get the 3rd free deal almost all of the time. Good hunting!

60 yo newbie’s intro to traditional shaving. (Week 16 AC*)

After learning on a Gillette Tech for a couple months, I just became familiar with adjustables (Slim and Fatboy) in August.
Now wanting to try other razor types. I’ll be spending September with some Single-Edge razors - mostly injectors and perhaps a Gem or two.

During this first week of September, my first with injectors, I’ll look to familiarize myself with them by starting with one that has been described as mild. I’ll be doing SEs all month.

    Hot Shower, Morning Shave
    Soap: Proraso Green
    Brush: Omega Pro 48
Razor: Schick Eversharp Type J3 Golden 500
    Blade: Schick Injector (China) (1)
    TSD Witch Hazel
    Aftershave Cream: Proraso
    After Shave: Proraso White

    08-31-15.JPG

    Two-pass shave (WTG / ATG).

Overall - the shave was outstanding in all aspects - easy to find blade angle, maneuverability, little feeling of irritation (though the aftershave lit me up a bit more than most days.) I'll have to be even more aware of blade angle and repeat strokes.

I'd like to avoid jinxing the rest month, but this was as good a shave as I can recall, and I just had one of my best shaves yesterday with an OC. I'm looking forward to the rest of the week with this one.

    Cheers!s

To celebrate the order I placed with Rod yesterday I've selected the Glacial Obsidian soap - the order was the last two of these soaps he had in stock, and they're MINE. The lather they give is a true delight with that great black liquorice scent, and that dynamite menthol effect which hits immediately. The matching balm has the same scent and it's just as intensely-cold with such moisturizing and soothing. The Rubby Dubby Doo is just my kind of finish to a wonderful shave - it keeps you shivering for most of the day! ;) :D

    Dove Men Face Wash
Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave Soap
    Jayaruh #1 Silver Tip
    Schick I2 Hydro-Magic
    Personna SS Injector
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Aqua Velva

The Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #18 Silver Tip Badger brush. Two passes with my Schick I2 Hydro-Magic razor and a Personna SS Injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Hot Shower prep with Stirling Soap Works Ben Franklin Soap.
Razor - Birth Year Gillette Slim Adjustable 1964 (5)
    Blade - Astra SP (5)
    Brush - Plisson
    Lather - Cella
    Bowl - Fine Lather
Warm rinse, Maggard alum block then cool rinse
    Finished up with Lucky Tiger
Two pass for a good enough work day shave. Apparently I had a couple of pimples trying show up on my chin. The Astra found them. Nothing major, just enough to make their presence known :signs131:

B-3 Mongoose with Triad Ti Helix Spiral
    Feather Pro #2
    Paladin Chief Strawberry Amber 26X52mm
    Stirling Soap Glacial Obsidian
Alum, Stirling Black Ice Witch Hazel, Gold Bond Green Lotion
    Stirling Aftershave Sharp Dressed Man

The first shave of SEptember was an outstanding 2 pass BBS. I'm feeling in control of the Mongoose finally. I stirred the Glacial Obsidian with the Paladin Chief. Loaded a damp brush with plenty of the Black Ice. Slowly worked up a slick and icy lather. Sterling takes more work than some soaps but the pay off is worth it. Today's lather was so cold it made my eyes water. The alum revealed no irritation at all. The Black Ice Witch Hazel is a face freezer with an outstanding scent. Enjoyed the cool for a bit before a gentle splash of SDM and I'm ready for today.
