    SOTD: Wonderful morning shave today using a number of 'first time' items. Barbershop-scented 'Honor' shave soap and balm from Soap Commander (superb!); new custom badger brush from Brad Sears Shave Works, and a vintage Wm Greaves & Sons For Barber's Use' 9/8" beast. Memorable shave.

    FRIDAY SHAVE
    20161209_195114.jpg

    Prep: MLSW Sandalwood pre shave butter
    Razor: Icon X3 slant/ Maggard MR18C handle
    Blade: Gillette Green (1st shave)
    Brush: Everready 600 synthetic
    Soap: Reef Point Dragons Blood
    Balm: RP Dragons Blood

    Had a smooth 2 pass shave, got a great lather from the Reef Point soap and the scent of Dragons Blood filled the den. Finished with the matching balm.

    SATURDAY SHAVE

    Prep: RazoRock Mister Joe
    Razor: Gillette Redtip
    Blade: Gillette Green (2nd shave)
    Brush: Fine Angel Hair Synthetc
    Soap: Proraso Sandalwood
    Post: Proraso Green balm/ Proraso red A/S splash

    Had a DFS this morning. It's been a long time since I used Proraso soap/cream and I forgot how great this stuff really is. The scent is one of my favorite Sandalwoods and it made a slick lather. Had to be careful since I managed to get a few ingrown hairs a few shaves back, so no against the grain pass this time. Ended up with a few nicks but overall it was a invigorating shave to start the day. Have a great weekend everyone!

    B&R Stainless Adjustable razor
    Personna Platinum blade
    Thayers Rose Petal witch hazel
    D.R. Harris Pink aftershave
    G.F. Trumper Coral Skin Food

    My first shave with the B&R Adjustable. I really, really like this razor. For my first pass WTG I set it at 4. For my the 2nd pass of XTG I set it to 2.5, and for the ATG pass I did 1.5 (with the blade installed I couldn't go lower than 1.5). I had an excellent smooth and comfortable shave. This is easily one of my favorite razors already. I hope to see more modern adjustables in the near future.....I'd love to see a Hone 15 brass adjustable.....could you imagine that??!!

    I'm so busy now, but here's my Sunday morning setup:

    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Derby final day
    Derbylux S/C :love055: :love055: :love055::love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Intesa Glacial A/S Balm :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :smiley freezing: :smiley freezing:
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue A/S Splash :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily::Animatedfrozensmily:

    I'm so in love with this Derbylux cream and for good reason - it has everything I love. What a wonderful scent, great lather, and more than enough menthol to please me. It's also so skin-friendly, just like its "countryman" the Barbon cream. I'm definitely going with the Intesa balm which I bought a year ago from Italian Barber, and the Aqua Velva is always a good finish to a shave! ;) :D

    I have, up 'til today, been somewhat dissatisfied in the post shave of my Jabonman Vetiver de Haiti. However...once again, I must plead guilty to "user error" and a second violation: "giving up on my lather too soon". Guilty, your Honor. :char039: More water, more water! And what better brush to wield than my Simpson 3 "Chubby" Manchurian.
    I have dubbed this brush...Iceberg. There aren't too many brushes out there that can eat through soap like the iceberg that "ate" through the hull of H.M.S. Titanic. No, sir!
    Below "Iceberg" after the first pass...

    I would have enough soap a 4P+ shave. The dense badger hair also holds a lot of H20, EXACTLY what this soap needs to provide a slick, smooth shave AND a post shave that is not bad at all. Much better than the previous shaves. The scent is gorgeous.

    Because of today's terrific shave, I have patched the hull of the Titanic and have returned it to dry dock, where it will reenter my soap rotation. But never fear, there are more soaps in my den cruising the North Atlantic at night...:eatdrink023:

    This is the other straight I inherited from my Grandpa years ago. I last shaved with it about 30 shaves ago. OK shave but definitely more irritation than I'd like - which is what I noted last time I used it. This one will probably be kept for sentimental reasons only and not likely to be used often. :chores016: I don't often shave daily but that I wanted to get more muscle memory with that Guillotine style stroke. :)
