Gonna post now for Sunday morning:

    C. W. Beggs Facial Wash
    Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster
    Super Speed/Astra day 7
    Tibet Forest Fresh SC
    Lucky Tiger AS Cream
    Osage Rub AS Splash
    Lagerfeld Classic EdT

I really like this Tibet cream from Bangladesh - the smell is nice, it lathers really easily and it's got a very nice cooling effect. It also has an antiseptic to kill bacteria. The Lucky Tiger balm is a must-have for me at all times, as is the Rubby Dubby Doo!

Oh, by the way - here's what I have on tap for my Dad's shave tomorrow:

    Two hot towels
    Omega 49
    Ming Shi TTO/new Derby
    Old Spice Original SC
    Old Spice Classic AS Splash

Dad enjoys the scent of Old Spice now and then so I thought I'd give him a treat. He even likes the P&G version which I personally can't stand but I'll do anything to make him happy. The cream is the original Shulton version from India. He's not a fan of menthol - in fact he's surprised that I love it so much. He enjoys the Ming Shi TTO razor because it's very gentle and it still gives him great shaves!

    Unconditionally Superb
I used my Premier straight on my cheeks and the slant on my neck today. The shave was satisfying, smooth and comfortable. The US salve is a great pre shave - it doesn't improve lather, but it makes the post shave feel smoother. I'm very happy that this scent will eventually be a permanent feature for Declaration Grooming!

The way it must be for 1-14:

prep-Dove Care + Men Bodywash (in shower)
    shave-Rise Super Foam
razor-Pivot Sensation by Gillette Sensor Deuce
    A.S.-Rise Cooling Balm

To paraphrase what Jack Palance might have said about this plan(borrowing from his classic Skin-Bracer commercial): NUTHIN' FANCEH.......DON'T YOU THINK? :)

No problem. I don't think you would be dissapointed with the performance of any of those soaps.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20180113_152202.jpg

Prep: MLSW Sandalwood pre shave butter
    Razor: Razorock Hawk
    Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft
    Soap: T&S Himalaya
    Post: T&S Himalaya A/S

Had a smooth shave this afternoon. Have grown to really like this scent of Himalaya, was not sure about the new T&S scents at first, but Himalaya and Maya are the ones I like most. Performance is excellent with both the soap and the aftershave. Hope everyone had a great shave!

Razor - Antique Gillette 1907 Old-Type (fully restored and re-plated in gold by Razor Emporium)
Blade - Wilkinson Sword *3rd Shave
Shave Brush - Everyman Jack Synthetic
Shave Soap - Mama Bear's Obsessed for Men
    Preshave Oil - Lather & Wood's "Unscented"
Aftershave - Calvin Klein's Obsession For Men
Post Shave Balm - Retseliney Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum
Deodorant - Calvin Klein's Obsession For Men
Fragrance - Calvin Klein's Obsession For Men EDT
Shave Stand by Robert Evans on Etsy. Must request custom project to order.

The shave today was possibly the best shave I've ever had. The pre-shave oil I think made a huge impact on preventing any irritation from the glycerine soap on that 3rd pass and final cleanup.

Also, I've learned how to make lather correctly from the Mama Bear Glycerine soap by not thinning it with too much water and allowing some of the dense richness to stay in there on the skin. Although this is definitely a thirsty soap and it has a great ability to stretch lather with extended watering.....too much water thins the moisturizing properties of the soap. I soak the puck in a very thin layer of water which I use to apply over the pre-shave oil on my face before loading the brush carefully with only a few drops of water. Then I again carefully build a face lather with small amounts of water and get just the right consistency. The further key to preventing the slight 'burning sensation' that people report on Mama Bear soaps is to not rinse off my face between passes so as the maintain the pre-shave oil. I only slightly re-wet my face and add a few drops to the brush for each pass's lathering.

Normally my face cannot tolerate 3 passes with the Gillette Old Type, but with a proper pre-shave oil and lather procedure, I have been able to sustain a near bullet-proof blade protection (hard to achieve vs an aggressive Old-Type), while getting excellent slickness.

I also think I have gotten to a better level of competency with the Old-Type. Despite just a two very minor weepers that stopped bleeding immediately, I was am satisfied that I am becoming quite the stubble assassin with this Old-Type. I took 3-passes with an added cleanup and ZERO irritation, achieving possibly my best resulting shave ever. I'm discounting the 2 very minor weepers because my shave today involved risky and daring aggressive angles to achieve BBS. I was either going to get razor burn or I was going to have an elite shave. Well, no razor burn thanks to my oil/soap lather protection procedure.

I also did a perfect 4-pass shave on the back of my neck (with-grain/against-grain/across-left/across-right)....BBS as well.

I think I am satisfied that I have achieved a competent level of skill with this razor. I'm not a Jedi Master yet, but if I can consistently pull off this kind of shave without post-shave irritation with an Old-Type, well, I might gloat a little on here.

The ebonite handle has a very deep luster, and the colors truly reveal themselves in good light. After two lathers the knot is very impressive, dense with a hint of scrub. Very elegant in person.

An ATG pass and some touch ups and it was a DFS all told. The “B” plate has provided three great solid shaves. Not over the top or revolutionary, but satisfying shaves nonetheless. Off to the pub with friends for steamed clams, crabs, a few pints and enjoy the games. Have a great day and shaves Gents..... :eatdrink047:
