    To get the weekly thread started, I've decided to give our straight razor users some promo and love by using this SOTD picture from January 30, 2011 - 1 year ago. It was Sailinblues's SOTD that day so the photo is courtesy of him.

    Great idea! I personally declare this week 'A Straight Razor shave week' for me. It happened that I abandoned my straights for some time because of a hurry. To correct that, why not to dedicate a whole week (I wish it could be month!) for the straights.

    Monday, January 30, 2012 - Midnight Shave

    Prep :: Shower, glycerin
    Razor :: Gillette Old Type /w BRW Handle
    Blade :: Personna Med. Prep. (1)
    Soap :: MWF (Face Loaded)
    Brush :: Rudy Vey Omega Boar
    Post :: Alum, Cold water rinse, WH + Rosewater
    AS :: RazoRock Wax

    I didn't shave this weekend, but the Old Type and Med. Prep. had no problems removing the whiskers. The Med. Prep. was the first blade I ever used when I started wet shaving and it remains one of my top three blades. If you've never tried one, they are so smoooth and great in aggressive razors. This was a 3 pass, testosterone injected keeper of a shave.

    Have a great week everybody!

    Menthol Monday

    Gillette Tech
    Feather day 1
    D.R. Harris H3 best badger brush
    TSD Iced Sandalwood SS
    TSD Iced Eucalyptus Witch Hazel
    Proraso splash

    After loading the brush I accidently dropped the brush in the sink. Because I already had planned to use more water I just gently shook out the brush and started face lathering. In the end it was a little to wet, but it showed that the brush needs a lot more water then I expected.

    BTW can somebody tell a couple of words about that Rebell brand? The razor has a number 10 and a word "Rebell"...

    Good Morning Ladies and Gents. Had a late shave on Sat., and didn't need to shave yesterday day morning, so today I finally got to take my new R-41 for a test drive. Beautiful razor, but I still need to learn its angles, as I got bit a couple of times. Brand new blade, that I usually love, so I don't think that is the culprit either. Glad that styptic pencil was in the back of the drawer, maybe it was just wantn' to feel some love too. Outside of the nicks, it was pretty great shave though.

    Coffee: World Market Costa Rican
    Razor: R-41
    Blade: Store Personna
    Brush: VDH badger
    Cream: Godrej Menthol

    I really enjoyed this Menthol Monday Shave a lot - the only thing which makes me a little sad is this is my last tube of Williams Menthol cream, and I heard it might have been discontinued. I really love this cream. The Floid Classic aftershave has such a nice barbershop-type scent. ;) :D

    Autostrop
    Feather (1)
    TGN Silvertip
    Proraso Preshave
    Proraso Soap
    Proraso Splash

    I am loving the Proraso. It isn't as protective as I would like, but it's the best cheap soap I have! The menthol kick it adds makes the morning shaves most welcome! It was only a two pass this morning, and I was so excited about face lathering, I forgot to apply the preshave before my second pass. Needless to say I think my razor was trying to 'autostrop' my top lip off. The Feather SEs are WAY too sharp for my face to handle unprotected (for their first shave), so I use the preshave and that adds a lot of protection!
