Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed (Z3)
    Feather (2)
Rudy Vey Shavemac two-band silver tip
    XPEC unscented
    Two passes plus touch-ups
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Small Batch Shave Tonic

My shaves with the Super Speed have been fantastic. I'm rethinking my preference on a daily use razor. A mild razor loaded with a Feather blade and coupled with solid technique usually results in a near-BBS shave. I continue with the first pass mostly WTG face/ATG neck, second pass ATG, and a few touch-ups around the jawline and mouth area. The only exception is my upper lip, as I can only tolerate WTG and XTG passes in that area.

For the last few shaves, I've spent more time adding water and working the lather. The end result is a closer shave and a more enjoyable experience. The Shavemac brush is an absolute lather monster and a joy to use.

XPEC is good shaving cream, but I don't see myself restocking it once it's gone. It's not worth the extra money compared to some of the better soaps in my rotation. Currents faves are MdC and Route 66.

I don't have a lot of experience with Bay Rum aftershaves, but I really enjoy the Small Batch Shave Tonic. It's a nice finish to a winter morning shave. The bottle is dated, numbered, and corked! It's definitely some of Kentucky's finest.

I hope you all are having a great week.

I love it! Modern Merkur based off a vintage Gillette. I think it is going to be my new daily shaver instead of my Muhle R89/ Maggard Mr-5

    Pre: Warm shower
    Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel (3)
    Razor: Wet Shave Club 3-piece
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso White
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

CCS today. Light beard growth again from a 24-hour shaving cycle eliminating the need for multiple passes. I don't want to shave too much and have irritation.

Proraso continues to work well and the Rapira blade is working well too. I hope you all have a great day!

What's funny: Here in Germany they call it 1904. Why the 2 year difference? ;)

    Wednesday!

    Prep: hot shower
    Music: Wim Mertens, best of
    Brush: vintage DVH boar
Soap: Tcheon Fung Sing barbe rosse shaving soap
Razor: Gillette Slim (birth quarter) @9
    Blade: Schick platinum blade
    Shave: 3-pass
Post: DVH alum (not in pic), hand strop blade & reload upside-down

    SoS 2016-01-06 a.jpg

I've started a seven day run with seven new soaps.
    • Tcheon Fung Sing barbe rosse shaving soap
    • Barbieri di Figaro Classico shaving soap
    • Haslinger Schafmilch shaving soap
    • Tcheon Fung Sing Italia Fern shaving soap
    • Figaro shaving cream
    • Sapone da Barba Vegetale alla Mandorla by La Saponieria Artigiana
    • Raso Zero shaving soap

This is day #1, Tcheon Fung Sing barbe rosse shaving soap

    The soap:

It is softer to the touch than Cella, but with a stronger almond scent. Perhaps because the Cella tub is about a year old and may have lost some scent.

    Lathering:
The brush loads quickly and forms lather as quickly as Cella.
    SoS 2016-01-06 b.jpg

    Shave:
The lather is nice and slick like Cella, but differs to Cella in that after the pass the slickness is gone. Cella leaves some slickness after the pass.

    After the shave:
Mild alum sting, scent dissipates fairly quickly.

    Overall verdict:
This is a great soap and it is really comparable to Cella. Scent, quality, price all are about the same. Unless you pick the 1,000 ml block of Cella of course. ;)

Oh, and the shave result: wonderful DFS. :happy088:
