    Bethleham Olivewood Silvertip

    Thayers Cucumber WH
    Pinaud Vegetal

The St. James Collection Shaving Cream face-lathered well with my Bethleham Olivewood Silvertip brush. Two passes with my Gillette President razor and a Personna SS blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Nice setup Jim. What is the loft on your Silvertip?

I set it at about 50mm. I am thinking of making it my Sunday brush. My President is already my Sunday razor.

I also find 49-50 mm a good loft. Thanks.

Comments: Almost an exact repeat of the SOTD on 7-16-15. Again I tried to use the Torrey for the whole shave but I just couldn't get the rough areas like jawline, chin and upper lip close enough. I did fine with the neck area though! I used the Wolfman razor (open comb side) for a cleanup pass in those areas listed earlier! One weeper and no irritation today and I ended up with a DFS shave but not BBS. No issues with the soap as it lathers easy and gave me very good protection throughout the shave. I still don't think the lather was quite good enough but will work on that. All in all, it was a very good shave today but could have been better!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

    Thx.

Thanks for responding to my request Guy and for a great review with additional appreciated comments from @Boojum1

I had been able to locate a sample of it, but have not had a chance to try it yet. I couldn't really ascertain much from a whiff of the sample sample but had been intrigued by the product descriptions and needed to find a real-life review.

I enjoy complex yet subtle scents and this one sounds as though it may fit the bill. I suppose it may have to go on my Christmas list!

    Thanks again,

I called a TIME OUT on shaving for the day. I woke up a bit late for the monthly spiff meeting and had to rush so I just showered and out the door. Yeah, I know, lazy man's way out but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. And in my case I had to get to the meeting and then do THIS.....

I think the Poodle is the finishing touch that really classes this up. Back to a leisurely Sunday shave in the morning. Hope you are all cooler than we are here!

Your welcome. Hopefully I didn't steer you wrong as we know how the YMMV is so prevalent in our adventure for the holy grail in wet shaving.

    Prep: Shower
    Razor: Gillette Aristocrat
Blade: Big Ben Super Stainless (2)
    Brush: Omega 13109
Lather: TOBS Shaving Shop Shave Cream
    Post: Cold rinse, Witch Hazel

Late night shave. Excellent all around. Need to wake up early morning so thought I would just do it tonight.

This TOBS Shaving Shop cream has a peculiar smell to it that I can't put my finger on. The scent does not resemble a Barber Shop smell at all. Smells more like the place where someone would go to get a hair perm or dye their hair. Not 100% sure on that.

Ha! YMMV! I got that Rule down real quick since I've been on here. Almost as quick as I learned that @crackstar likes menthol and @NCoxSTL likes Russian blades! ;)

I do appreciate reading all the subjective reviews from everyone though because I at least get to know what people are using and why. It's just part of the info gathering.
    :)
    Thanks Guy!

    Fine Ferox
Another great shave with Ferox. Now that I have the razor door issue figures out, this shave was smooth and easy with no drama. The Colonel made very good lather, though I think I added a little too much water. The Fatboy did its part going 9/7/7 quite nicely. I finished with Fine Platinum expecting quite a sting like yesterday, but it was brief and extinguished by the menthol. Now I'm ready for church.

Prep: Van Yulay pre shave oil
    Soap: B&M Ferox
    Brush: The Colonel
    Razor: Gillette Fatboy
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    AS: Fine Platinum
