    Leopard Salon Razor
    Derby!!!! (1)
    Barbasol Pacific Rush
    Alum
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal

This razor was acquired this week via barter (hi NB16 peeps!), and today I used it for the first time. Let me begin by saying that I am glad I learned to traditional straight shave first! Derby blades really perform well for me in aggressive razors like Fatip and Cadet/Razorock, so it was selected for a trial run in the shavette. The sensation of shaving is very similar to straight razor, but the DE blade feels "harder" and less forgiving than an actual straight blade. The shavette accepts saloon blades or in my case, I snapped the Derby in half before unwrapping it. Loading and alignment were a breeze, and the razor was ready to go. First pass was WTG, and it was smooth...so nice that I could have stopped for DFS...but why settle for that, so ATG for the BBS, zero irritation, alum was quiet and the Veg thanked me for my good taste, and for being one of the Chosen! Faulkner would have loved that last sentence. I had been skeptical of shavettes, but was most pleasantly surprised. I could shave this way every day and love it!
    Have a terrific Thursday!
    :)

    Razor - W.B. Speed Rabbit

    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, The Veg

Back to the focus today after a tryout of the Swan. Thought about giving it a second day but I was a bit behind on time so didn't want to take the time to get a DFS out of it. I'm sure it's capable, just not sure how much extra time might be necessary.

Using the W.B. Speed Rabbit this week. This is the first TSR I learned with and it's a very nice razor. 5/8 hollow grind and light and easy to maneuver. After using the heavier and bigger GD 800 this should feel like a Ferrari after a Hummer. The Fat and BoS for lather and it was great as usual. Took a couple of strokes to renew the feeling and grip for the Rabbit. It very quickly became familiar and the difference in it and the GD 800 while there weren't so great as to need a lot of adjustment. Two passes and I had a near BBS. I had lost the angle just a bit on my neck leaving a patch that needed to be touched up. Did that and had BBS, or the next best thing. Called it good.

Alum was just a bit hot on my neck but I expected that. Seems like when I go for touch ups with a straight I always end up a bit irritated. That's why I need to get good enough to skip touch ups!

Hot as you know what here today. I think the Mississippi is boiling off. Stay cool!

Thank you sir - really appreciate it - but besides choosing a rod, a handle shape and supplying a broken brush, I didn't do anything. Doug made this magnificent brush and all the appreciation should be directed to him :happy096:

    Two Pass Shaving Routine..

Hot Water prep & massage with Argan Oil
    Heljestrand No 7 Sweden 5/8th ( Freshly Honed )
    Fitchard Pure Badger
    Valobra Tallow Soap
    Humphreys Witch Hazel

I had a Glorious Shave this Morning with My Freshly Honed Heljestrand 5/8th..It took me Longer to Hone this SR as it Appears to be Made of a Very Hard Steel the same as CV Heljestrand SE Hollow Ground Blades..This SR has a Killer Edge & Very Smooth & Comfortable..:)

I am Delighted with My Progress on a Lapping Film Progression System..I Can see little Room for Improvement with the Results here as the Edge is Awesome..That said..Consistency is the Key.. I Finished on 1 Micron Film & took it onto the Chromium Oxide & Red Rhodium Strop before taking it onto Leather...I Prefer this Method to Finishing on 0.5 Lapping Film as the Edge can be a Bit too Crisp..:p

I just Hope that when I move onto using My Newly Acquired Naniwa Super Stones I get the Same Results because My Lapping Film is the Dogs Danglies..The only Reason I have Invested in some Naniwa Stones is that Lapping Film in the UK is not a Cheap Long Term System..:D

    I am Dolphin Smooth & Refreshed..:kar:

This shave was such a face-freezer that it's a miracle that I survived it. (yeah, right!) Seriously, the Glacial Spearmint soap is bitterly-cold but so enjoyable and I used its matching balm instead of the Gold Bond moisturizer. The Snake Bite aftershave was exactly what I needed to finish off. BBS again so easily! :happy088: :happy088:

    Easy Does It
I went with just two passes today to let my face heal a bit. The scent of Route 66 Cavendish is very nice, but the window of water tolerance is rather narrow. I put in too much, and the lather was lacking. I loaded more soap and it worked fine. Tabac is a good compliment, but honestly, I like Tabac enough to wear it everyday.
