Second day of using my Gillette Black Beauty this week.
Good, solid shave. Granted it wasn't a spectacular shave or even an exciting shave - but it did result in a great clean-shave with no need for touch-up passes.
I still, for some reason, see it as more mild than the Slim.

Razor: Gillette Black Beauty, gold plated
    Blade: Rapira
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson
Soap: Arko in vintage tin tube

Third day on the Classic and it was still a good shave. Beginning to show a little drag, though, so this is the last day for it. No weepers or other issues today, three pass DFS but not quite as close to BBS as day two. I checked the blade pre-shave and didn't notice an excess of rust. Apparently this blade just has three shaves in it. My experience with the carbons this month has shown that three is about all you can drag out of them, well all that I can anyway. YMMV. Of the four tried the Black Beauty and the Classic are my top two pics. The Durasharp and Silver lacked a bit in comparison. I'll spend the next week working with different blades that I haven't tried yet. But as for the carbons................

I paired the Ikon SC 102 with a fresh Platinum Lux, and did my best to whip up a stable lather with the mystery RED soap. That's right, the crew is back at it again and looking forward to providing some great info and reviews for the Den. Take care and have a good one gents.

03/24 – Razor Emporium did a tune-up on the Slim. They did a great job. They got the gaps straight and even and it shined up nicely. I had a very comfortable BBS shave. The Croma lives on.

    Razor: ATT M1 w/Maggard MR1 handle
    Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux (2)
    Soap: Arko stick
Brush/Bowl: Both VDH to soak brush

Preshave was just face wash with warm water and post shave was rinse with warm water then some cold water splashes and pat dry!

Shave was very good (I would say between CCS and DFS) but it took three passes with quite a bit of touchup to achieve in lip, neck and jaw line area's. No nicks but slight irritation in upper lip area. Not sure if it was the ATT M1 plate or the Platinum Lux blade.

I did like the feel of the MR1 handle vs the Bamboo handle, which is only about a 1/4 inch shorter. Just felt easier to maneuver around.

I have alot of blades and quite a few choices so trying to sample them in order to decide what to keep and what to move on. In search of the perfect razor/blade combo!!

    Thx.

Ok this should back up your thinking that the BB is milder than the Slim. Here is the link.

    PAL Adjustable 2 passes
    Schick (6)
GFT Eucris soap in a warm mug

Had some extra stubble today but just two passes with the PAL (and a Schick with already 6 shaves on it) was enough to get me out-the-door presentable.

This is the last week of my GEM/ER SE Razor Month, and it's time for the GEM G-bar.

The Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Frank Shaving Finest Badger Badger Brush. Two passes with my GEM G-bar SE razor and a GEM Super Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Here's my set-up for Wednesday morning:

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Sharp day 3
Gada Cool Mint SC :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Lubriderm Unscented Moisturizer :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055:
Proraso Green AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Givenchy Gentleman EdT

Not as face-freezing a selection as these last couple of days but still a very respectable amount of menthol for this shave. The Gada Cool Mint is still one of my favourite creams (it's so cheap!) and it's very well-liked by many guys who I've sent it to. It has a great lemony/minty scent with tons of rich lather and plenty of skincare in addition to a very pleasant cooling sensation. The Proraso Green aftershave was an excellent buy for less than fifteen bucks, and I plan to keep it in my rotation. This Sharp blade seems to be performing better than the previous one, so for now I'll stick with it. ;) :D
