    Dove Men Face Wash
    Col. Conk Lime Shave Soap
    Jayaruh #6 High Mountain Badger
    Schick L-1
    Personna Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Barbasol Brisk AS

The Col. Conk Lime Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #6 High Mountain Badger brush. Two passes with my Schick L-1 razor and a Personna Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Barbasol Brisk after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Let me say this - it wasn't so easy to decide on which soap to use because I have so many. Originally I was planning a non-mentholated shave, but the weather forecast is for another hot, humid day so I might as well choose a set-up which will give me lots of comfort. The Glacial Lemon Chill soap is super-mega-frigid, and its scent drives me crazy. It's also one of the easiest soaps to lather, and it's a puck from Rod's older batches. Needless to say, the Glacial Wintergreen balm and witch hazel are two of the most intensely-mentholated items you can put on your face after shaving. The Derby blade is still performing like a champ. ;) :D

I wish everybody a great weekend in advance! :)

Since you are the forums King Of Cold, maybe you could direct me in my menthol foray! Don't want to start off with something so outrageous that it shrinks my head to the size of a BB so what would be a good first time try? I used to like the canned stuff once in a while back in the day, I believe it was good old Barbasol if I remember right. So maybe something along a similar line with a LITTLE more kick!
I appreciate any suggestions you can make and I am awed by your knowledge of THE COLD! :smiley respect: :Animatedfrozensmily:

Thanks and I have been cruising thru some VERY old threads here and I'm also awed by your longevity here!!! I think I saw posts as far back as 2007 or there abouts! Easily the longest I have ever seen anyone continuously posting, contributing and helping on any forum I've ever been on! Congrats and job well done Sir! :happy096:

Thanks for your kind words which are so appreciated. If you want to get into mentholated stuff, it's a good idea and start off with something relatively mild such as Proraso White soap and see if you like it. It's less-mentholated than the Proraso Green, but it still carries enough of a cooling effect to be felt and enjoyed. The Stirling Glacial soaps are not for the average wetshaver because they are so intensely-cold that they can really shake someone up and wreak havoc on somebody who either cannot tolerate this type of menthol, or who has sensitive skin. These Glacials can cause your eyes to tear and your nose to run, but they all smell wonderful and in addition to the freezing-cold sensation they give, they also provide fantastic post-shave care. The Stirling soaps also feature other styles which are considerably less mentholated, but are still very cooling. Some of those other soaps are:

    1) Black Ice (medium-strong menthol effect)
    2) Margaritas in the Arctic (this one is quite strongly-mentholated)
    3) Orange Chill (I never tried it, but I heard it's like the MITA)
    4) Frozen Tundra (very, very cold - second in line to the Glacials)

Or you can try Iced Subzero soap from JoAnna's TSD store. It's a great choice. Pretty darn cold with excellent post-shave care.

    Hope this helps! :)

    SOTD Friday, May 29

Have be presentable to represent our company in a golf outing Friday. Tough job, but somebody's gotta do it!

Razor: 1958 Super Speed TV Special
    Blade: Astra SP
Brush: Strong Set restore (WD black badger knot)
    Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
    Alum: Maggard
    AS: Barbasol Brisk

Though I've been back, I've been "lurking" the past since returning vacation. Had to get my brain back in gear, get retrained at work...etc. I picked up this razor at an estate sale for $2 last summer. I didn't know what it was at the time and I've only tried it once. I chose it for my next few shaves by random number draw. I haven't had good experience with SS razors in the past, so I hope this time is better. I love the Strong Set brush; it's doesn't have a lot of what I think is called "backbone", but it's perfect for me. It's soft and really generates a good lather. Speaking of lather, the Stirling Sharp Dressed Man really creates lots of it. Smooth and comfortable is what I'm anticipating.

PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water
RAZOR: Wolfman WR1-DC Polished (dual comb) with Bamboo handle
    BLADE: Gillette Silver Blue (4)
    SOAP: Proraso White Tub
    BOWL: VDH
    BRUSH: VDH Boar
POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try.

Comments: I used only the OC side today and I got a DFS but close to a BBS but with two passes and just some touch up on jawline and neck areas. Just another great Wolfman shave! Soap was very good as usual The slick lather, the protection and feel throughout the shave and the post shave feel was very good. I feel absolutely no irritation at all and no weepers/nicks. A great shave today and the Wolfman OC side and the Proraso White is also a winning combo for me!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items us
ed as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

    Thx.

    R&R Friday
Another excellent shave with Rhapsody. I left the FatBoy on nine for my whole shave today with superb results. I was able to skip a pass on my neck, and my skin feels smooth and comfortable. The Colonel made exemplary lather which set up my whiskers right for the wrath of the FatBoy. I don't know if I'll leave it at nine all the time, but I'm happy with the results. Cologne Russe finished this shave off right.
