That is pretty wild!! I would have thought the softer hairs would have been cut off by doing so...!
Having dad's old brush, it is very soft...a little flopply...but as soft as my silvertip....curious if the brush will soften up with more use...

Lately though I've been using my Vie-long Horse hair more than any other brush....not as soft as Dad's brush, or the silvertip...but great for face lathering.

My Stanley brush is not that floppy, although no where near as stiff as the Vie-Long or even that old German Badger brush. The Stanley is by far my softest brush, it is softer than a goat hair brush.

The cutting of the hair on the VDH did not affect the softness of the tips by that much, it just gave a lot more backbone. Now, would I do this on an expensive Silvertip, no way, but for the cost of a lunch, I had nothing to lose.

    Neolithium I am Canadian, eh

Wednesday - OOPS forgot to post this mornings shave!
    Edwin Jagger DE87 + Voskhod
    Semogue Owners Club Boar
Proraso Menthol & Eucalyptus (New Formula)
    Cold Water Rinse
    Brut

So I used to hate the original formula green due to the scent. It was overpowering for me personally; this is definitely more subdued and I now quite enjoy it.

If I didn't have over 1000 DE blades and a few nice straights, this is quite possibly the only razor I would use.

I am still shaving in the evening until I get my routine down

Pre Shave: Wet with hot water
Razor: Cheap Derby w/ Persona blade
    Brush: Van Der Hagen Boar
Shave Soap: Van Der Hagen (It's what came with my cheap set)
    After Shave: Nivea

This was my first time using shave soap and I think I might have to use it more often. I did a 3 pass shave with some touch ups for BBS. It's official I am hooked and going to start looking in to getting a better razor and brush.

That was my plan too, but I really got to enjoy the night shaves because I wasn't rushing to get to work, so now 90% of my shaves are still at night. The one thing I regret is that I'm sleeping when my face is the smoothest.

It sounds like you're off to a great start!

Not that I know of (may not be worth much), from my end just some strange grips. Though I've been straight shaving for almost two
years I'm still constantly adjusting my grips.
