Thanks John. It took me a few days to get the courage to shave it off after 14 years but I was thinking it was time to lose the beard anyway. The Lady Barber said she really wasn't sure if she could do a complete shave like that (she shaved the back of the neck before but never a full shave) and the only time I could do that was the Dinner or the Stated Meeting after and there are no facilities to do a shave there. We would all be in business suites as well and it would have been very awkward to pull off. I went ahead and did it on my own as it would be much simplier this way. ;)
I don't know about the points made with the Wife for doing this cause she really liked the beard. She is getting used to the way I look now so I think she has accepted the new look.

    Stirling Bay Rum
    Merkur 41c 1904 OC

Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS splash

A more comfortable shave today with a new blade in the Merkur 41c, even if the Stirling lather gave less cushion than the One-X. I'm thankful for BBS results without any bloodshed, as well as for my SO, in the Seattle area, whom I'll visit over the Christmas holiday.

    Happy Turkey Day gents...

Here is the gear for today's shave. I hope everyone has a great holiday, and enjoys some time with their loved ones. The goose with the rosegold handle looks stunning in person, and I had a better overall experience this time. I liked the soap and aftershave combo today, and the clove reminds me of that delicous ham in the oven...

27 November Shave - Thanksgiving Day

A nice quick shave. The Omega Pro 49 worked up a good lather with The Shave Den Vanilla. The Long Handled SA with the Big Ben behaved flawlessly. Only a one pass DFS for a Thanksgiving day in which I rested most of the morning, with my injured leg elevated to continue the healing process.

No Variation November still in effect! Another great Shave! Blade is Voskhod.

    image.jpg
I had an audience in the den today...when I was done shaving, I disassembled and sterilized the razor in 91% isopropyl...loaded a fresh Voskhod...

I then passed the kit to my brother in law...who successfully did two passes and then promptly went to Amazon and ordered this kit. My first convert to DE!!! He is still raving two hours later!

    Omega Pro 98 boar brush
    Gillette Super Speed '47
    Astra SP
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Clubman

We are in Charlotte this morning at the Hampton Inn. We are visiting our oldest son's family. Youngest son's family is here, but so far, middle son's family is a no show. His middle son has had a fever. We will find out this morning if they will make the trip. It is 31 and fair. The C.O. Bigelow Shaving Cream face-lathered very easily with my Omega Pro 98 Boar Brush. Two passes with my '47 Gillette Super Speed and Astra SP blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

SoTD, Thanksgiving Day, or, things I am thankful for...

Pre- hot shower, MHO soap (eastern Europe)
    Soap- Herban Cowboy, dusk
    Brush- unknown German
Mug- I have decided that it just doesn't matter which of my mugs or lathering bowls are used. They may still appear in the pic, for compositions sake... but as of today, I am officially dropping them from my daily list
Razor- Schick G5, yes, I know it is a 'lady' model. I don't care. I love it.
    Blade- persona
    Rinse- Thayers lavender
    Aftershave- English Leather
    Lotion- Kiehl's
    Cologne- English Leather

So, finally got some injector blades. I had hoped to find some locally, but I turned up none in my visits to every beauty supply in town. Asking for injector blades got me nothing but blank looks. Asking for Personna 'mini hair shaper blades' either got me confusion, or pointed to the long, narrow personna SEs. But if I ever need those, or Dorco DE blades, I now know where to get them. So I finally ordered some online. $5 for twenty blades, but they came in the no-key cartridge, so I had to load a used 'proper' injector. It went pretty smoothly once I got the process nailed down. Now I can finally start getting my injectors into the rotation! I started off with the turquoise handled G5. I often see this labeled as a 'lady' Schick...not sure why, as mine is packaged exactly like my other Gs, but I am secure enough in my manhood to use a lady razor. Plus I think it looks super cool. It is aesthetically one of my favorites, in fact tied only with the 'textured silver head/ navy handle' as what I feel is the best looking early injector. The shave... there is a distinct learning curve with the early model injectors. Took my whole first pass to get the feel. And although the second pass was better, I still didn't do the best job ever. Not bad mind you, but compared to my recent shave output, my result was a barely passable DFS... but it was okay, as I never left the house after my shave. I don't think my girlfriend, son, or cats, will complain.
In other shave news, used a new soap, Herban Cowboy, present from the GF, smells nice, I had some trouble getting it to lather well. Got they in the end, but it took a while. Also on the new product front, I bought some after shave balm from Kiehl's, my favorite lotion maker. It is excellent, as are all Kiehl's products. And finally, topped the shave with a vintage set of MEM produced English Leather. I swear it has a richer fragrance than the new stuff, but to be fair, I firmly fall into the 'older is better' camp.
Hope you all had a great holiday! Mine was great. A day at home, spent with those closest to me. Can't beat that.
