    Pre-shave: hot shower
Shave Cream: Barbasol Sensitive Skin travel size can http://theshaveden.com/forums/threa...m-travel-can-experiment-sensitive-skin.57755/
    Razor: Schick Krona
    Blade: Personna Red (3)
Post-shave: Dickinson WH, Nivea Sensitive PS Balm, Barbasol Brisk AS

The only way to describe today's shave is SMOOTH.... The Krona, loaded with the Personna, performed well. The Barbasol shave cream continues to provide a slick layer of protection for 2 complete passes and touch-ups. Very satisfied with a close, comfortable shave.

    Happy Halloween, everyone!

The Arkie and my Germans sure do get along. I don't use this razor often and today's shave made me question why not. :happy036:

SOTD 10/31/2017 - ANOTHER GRAND PACIFIC SHAVE
RAZOR: Pacific Quality Stainless DE Razor (Handle) - known elsewhere as the $1 Dollar Tree Razor
BLADE: Pacific Double Edge blade - 7th shave with this razor & blade
PREP: hot shower wash with Zest Soap and rinse
BRUSH: Shea Moisture Badger Brush - finally trying Barbasol with a brush!?!
    PRESHAVE: Hot water rinse
SHAVE CREAM: Barbasol Pacific Rush - what a great scent this has!
    POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse.
AFTERSHAVE: Aqua Velva MUSK (not pictured)
    BALM: Gillette After Shave Gel
    Pacific_DE_SheaMoisture_Barbasol_Pacific_Rush.jpg
I'm having great fun and really on a roll with this really inexpensive razor. Completed a splendid 4 pass BBS shave.
I decided to see what it is like to apply Barbasol canned shave cream with a brush. The SheaMoisture Badger is my softest brush.
I dispensed a walnut sized glob of the Barbasol into the bowl and proceeded to act like I was lathering up a cream. Even added a little water.
I used the brush for the 1st 2 passes, and though it seemed redundant to lather a lather, it felt good using the brush on my face.
OK. Enough of that! I then reverted to applying the Barbasol by hand. I used my fingers to massage the cream into my face. That just feels better to me.

So, I didn't really need a fourth pass, could have got by with just touching up a couple of spots. But, I was enjoying the experience so much- what the heck.
I did notice a subtle difference in the scent of the Barbie when I used the brush. Weaker maybe, or maybe picking up the scent from the brush.
Applying the cream by hand gives you the full-on, unadulterated experience of that great scent and the luxurious feel of the superb cushion and slickness.

I am really enjoying this interest in new shave products.

    OCtober!!!

    October 31

Razor - 1918 Gillette Old Style
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Truefitt & Hill 1805
    Brush - Jayaruh#46
    Post - Alum

Well, here we are, final day of OCtober for 2017 and one shave left on the Old Style with Feather. I took out the pre-shave step tonight just to see how things would go. I also gave the lather some extra water and it turned out to be the right idea. Didn't super-goop it, but I did give the puck some water and left the JR46 fairly wet. The soap seemed like it sucked the water in then it just started loading the brush like it was meant to. Face lather produced a super-slick and cushy lather. That's what I was after.

Two passes and some touch up and I called it good. Finished with a DFS. Missed the BBS by just a bit and the alum was a bit warm. Something tells me I missed the pre-shave soap. That may have to become a regular part of my routine. I'll keep trying it with various soaps and such until I make my final decision.

Anyway, that's it fellow denizens. A very fine OCtober indeed. I don't think I had a really bad shave at all this month by sticking with my OC razors (and avoiding the Durham Duplex). The Gillette Super Blue Blades did create a memorable couple of days, but the rest were great shaves. Now....on to NOVember!
