"From Rusticus....I learned to read carefully and not be satisfied with a rough understanding of the whole, and not to agree too quickly with those who have a lot to say about something."- Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 1.7.3 Quintus Junius Rusticus was a teacher of Marcus'.
I think that I'll post one thought at the beginning of each month from the "Daily Stoic". February's topic is Passions & Emotions. Here's the entry for the 1st: "Keep this thought handy when you feel a fit of rage coming on- it isn't manly to be enraged. Rather, gentleness and civility are more human, and therefore manlier. A real man doesn't give way to anger and discontent, and such a person has strength, courage and endurance- unlike the angry and complaining. The nearer a man comes to a calm mind, the closer he is to strength."- Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 11.18.5b
So, it's March 1st and this month in "The Daily Stoic", the topic is "Awareness". "An important place to begin in philosophy is this: a clear perception of one's own ruling principle." Epictetus, Discourses, 1.26.15
The April topic in "The Daily Stoic" is 'Unbiased Thought'. "Your mind will take the shape of what you frequently hold in thought, for the human spirit is colored by such impressions."- Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 5.16

Enjoy life as much as possible, sometimes little things are better than big things. However, when decisions of a serious nature must be made you have to be stoic in that moment.
